For mid to full Power economical loads, I like Power Pistol, but have since moved to BE-86 for slightly less flash and blast. (If you prefer flash and blast, Power Pistol is great!)
I have yet to try any Vihtavuori pistol powders, one of them might work fine. If you want upper end...
Here are some “cheaper ammo” options recently fired out of my CZ-455 American at 50 yards from a rest. I typically use SK Standard Plus for matches, but these rounds are about half the price of the SK and didn’t do that bad.
You might also consider a used CZ 455. I have a standard and an American and both shoot very well. There is a reason why they are so popular for club matches.
I have heard PayPal won’t do squat for firearm related transactions. If a vendor won’t take Visa/Mastercard credit cards, I move along to one who does.
Definitely a scam site, or the least competent vendor/ website builder ever: shows “Black Powders” superimposed over canisters of IMR-4350 and Accurate No. 5. 🙄
Let me guess, Winchester primers? Hopefully older ones in the blue packaging, as they had a bad run of those years back. Those pin prick holes on the radius of the primer indicates defective primers, not brass. You could try them again with a different primer, or in abundance of caution...
Mine was a modern Howa in 6.5x55, and surprisingly it shot the 120 gr Sierra Pro Hunter over IMR-4064 the most consistently. It did okay with the usually recommended 140 gr bullets with slower burning powder like 4350, 4831 and Reloder 22, but the lighter weight bullet with the medium burn rate...
I bought two bricks on sale for $50 each with free shipping and hazmat, to see for myself. They weren’t 100% in a new Glock 48, were significantly better in a CZ P-09, and ran 100% in .357 Mag revolvers (S&W Model 28, Ruger GP-100 and SP-101). So I bought 2 more bricks for the revolvers and...
I agree that CFE223 and Varget are too slow for maximum performance with 40 gr bullets in the .223. But TAC has given fine accuracy and velocity for me. Maybe the 26” 1 in 12” twist barrel helps in my case. Benchmark also works well, and is far less temperature sensitive than TAC (or other...
I picked up a .17HMR barrel conversion kit for my CZ-455’s a few years ago. Included a magazine and wrench for barrel nut removal and installation. Quick and easy, don’t know if they still offer them for the CZ-457. The 455 shot just as good with the .17HMR barrel as it did with the .22lr...
So, just how long are you supposed to wait for One Shot to dry? I have never tried it, asking for a friend. (I keep my Hornady Unique in the temperature controlled room in the basement. Seems to last forever. See no reason to try One Shot.
Basically no difference between .223 and 5.56 brass. If you have concerns and are loading warm to max loads, be aware that some brands are heavier than others and have less internal volume. In my experience, LC NATO brass differs very little from most commercial .223 brass, while some...
Just so happens that I recently converted to BE-86 from Power Pistol as my “performance” powder for 9mm, .38 Special, and .357 Mag mid range loads. Even more recently my son acquired a Glock Model 20 Gen 3SF, which “forced” me to buy a model 20 Gen 5 😉. I run 8.0 gr of BE-86 behind a 180 gr...
Of the powders you list Varget and IMR-4895 shoukd be decent with varmint bullets from 55 gr to 75 gr. My personal favorites currently are Ramshot Big Game with either a Speer 70 gr TNT or a Nosler 70 gr Tipped Varmageddon for varmints/coyotes. My particular rifle prefers flat based bullets...
