Totally normal, Pat. It’s really weird… it’s like a jet of soot is shooting out of the stock drain hole. The screw is tight and the stock is tight to the buffer tube and receiver. Never seen anything like it. I haven’t had a chance to take it all the way down and clean it yet but hopefully I can...
I really like the SCS and have one on this PDP, my Glock 17.5 and G21.5. I like to have a lower 1/3 co-witness with stock sights due to the low form factor and direct-to-slide mount, and I like the solar charging function. The only thing I don’t like, but isn’t much of a problem, is the lack of...
Good point, ExtremeSquared. I understand as well that the guns are to be fired with something to buffer the firing pin. CZ provides a “snap cap”with removable green inserts for dry-firing. Many seem to use an o-ring or a piece of earplug wedged over the firing pin. CGW and perhaps others offer...
Awesome info, guys, and I appreciate it. But, guardrails. Has anybody had soot on their shoulder from a 9mm AR? I am still wondering how this is possible, if anyone has insight. :)
I put the HB Industries micro comp on the PDP today and, at least, it looks good. I’ll shoot it on Monday and see how it does. I didn’t get a chance to get to the LGS today on my HK VP9 journey; that’ll be Monday too now.
I am not surprised. I’d have been inclined to buy at least two at that price. I’ve lubed and dry fired mine (with the weird little snap cap that comes with the gun, Lol) about 500 times and it’s already smoothing out a bit. I’ll probably do a bit of polishing of the contact points when the CGW...
Elkins, that is astonishing. That’s practically Hi-Point money for a CZ. I really hope people don’t take the low price point to mean that the gun’s cheap. It’s a combat-worthy sidearm in every respect and, IMO, better than virtually all other polymer strikers out there. Thanks for the head’s up...
HSO: nope, the firing shoulder. The only way it can get there, I imagine, is to be blown out through the drain hole in the stock screw, unless there’s another explanation. Weird.
Right? The performance per dollar is astounding. I’ve looked at some Caniks and no doubt they’re good, but for the same (or less!) money, why not get a CZ? I have a CGW striker and striker spring coming for my P-10; I’d rather have a tool steel striker and the 4.4 lb spring might decrease the...
@red rick and @Mark Mark, I was initially put off by the PDP’s “chunky” look but it has grown on me quite a bit. It’s distinctive and set apart from all the others out there (kinda like me, lol).
We’re all a bunch of enablers, aren’t we? Haha. Now I have to try the Springco recoil management system for the PDP. The pistol is really excellent as-is but if it can be made better, without compromising reliability, then I’m all for it. TT, do you recommend the standard or the light spring for...
@red rick, you’ve got me going now :). I am going to hit my LGS at 10am tomorrow and I am going to try every HK VP9 in the house. I think they have 10 or 12 in stock. If I can find a good one, I’ll buy it for a comparo. I might get a P30 to face off against the CZ P-09 too. It’s on! :)
I was surprised too, Red Rick. I may still get one because it’ll round out my collection of polymer strikers, but the examples I played with and tried out at the range - a VP9 and a VP9 match, were unremarkable in assembly (excessive lateral trigger movement), heavy and gritty trigger...
Funny to see this come up. I’ve been thinking about the same gun and talking to myself about it… weird. I am keeping my eye out for one too but have no idea about price. There’s an electroless nickel ‘70’s vintage one near me that’s scratched up and loose as a Goose, and they want $899 for it...
