The cure for this is to put a bunch of cases in a ziploc bag and spray a bunch of one shot in the bag. Then shake the cases up a bunch and then do it again. You'll get enough lube inside enough cases that you won't have that issue anymore. You don't have to get all the cases inside. Just...
For pistol cases I prefer One Shot and that is only because I've found it to be the only real lube that doesn't get powder and junk all stuck to it. Obviously, stuff will stick if you don't wait for it to dry, but if you wait for it to dry, it is less of a mess to load with. At least compared...
Oh, and I forgot to mention. The answer is almost never "more crimp." More crimp is almost always a bad thing. Especially with plated bullets like Berry's.
Here is what I recommend to customers that have chambering issues. Take a black or blue sharpie marker and paint the entire round with it. Then try to chamber the round. When you pull the round back out of the chamber the marker should be rubbed off where the casing or bullet is contacting...
I just gotta say it's pretty cool to have my bullets listed in the hodgdon manual. We sent Western samples of all our bullets years ago but they only did data for the hp and the 115 and 124 RN. Good to see Hodgdon is doing something more with them. Would be cool if they did more than just...
I don't have a power factor load or anything but when I shot them at the last 3 gun match I just picked a load between 147 and 124. I can't remember what it was though but it shot pretty amazing and now I'm kinda addicted to the 135s. I still love the others, but it hit like a 147 on steel but...
One of our customers sent us a picture of a freshly painted steel target that he shot with the smileys. There was a smiley face imprinted in the steel. That has been the only recognizable difference I've seen with the smileys and regular nose bullets.
You can typically run 5.56 pressures through a .223 wylde chamber. However, I have encountered a barrel or two that must have been made with worn reamers that built more pressure and made what were usable loads in one gun not usable in the new one.
As with any advice that we receive, it's our perrogative as to whether we think it is wise for us to take it. I'm not offended by anyone that doesn't want to take my advice, but just keep it in mind if you ever have any of the issues that I mentioned.
I asked my question because I really...
As a bullet maker I can't tell you how frustrating this issue has been for us. I've had to explain to tons of guys that our bullets are not undersized but the brass is thin. I've found that this issue is mostly reported by guys using MA dies that were designed to make ammo look "Factory New."...
The 75 has far surpassed the 69 as my favorite match .224 bullet. There are better options for varmints but for high volume longer range stuff I love the 75s. For me, they are much easier to get really good groups. The 69s still shoot well for me, but for some reason the 75s shoot sub MOA...
Okay, I'm sure most of you guys know that I own a bullet company. I've chosen reloading as my profession and many of you know that I answer most of the customer service questions myself. I spend every day of my life and many of my nights obsessed with reloading. At this point I consider...
I shoot a lot of pulled cases. (I have decided that priming is for chumps) Anyway, when Speer, Federal, etc. do their self defense loads they use a tar sealant that gets powder kernels stuck to it. I load as I normally would and I don't worry about whatever unknown powder kernels may be stuck...
The matchwinner is my favorite bullet. I LOVE it. I see them made every day and every day I get warm and fuzzy just thinking about how much fun they will be for our customers to shoot. I named it the matchwinner because the first time I shot some in a match I won the match. Still the only...
My results were similar to LiveLife's results. I work with lead every single day of my life for 8-10 hours. I do less actual contact with the lead these days but for a lot of years I was touching it every day. My lead levels were never too high to worry about. They were higher than someone...
Here is what I think. Most reloading data does not include 5.56 pressure data. Hodgdon used to but they stopped for what is likely CYA laywer excuses. Berger is probably following suite and only publishing .223 Remington pressure data. The data UR was using is likely for a 5.56 pressure...
I'm not familiar with the lee presses but I've had this happen when the shell holder isn't tightened down enough and allows the casing to lean a little. This has happened to me with both the hornady and dillon presses. Also, I've had this happen in a single stage press when I've gotten some...
As a bullet maker, I can tell you that it looks like this bullet skipped a step or two in the manufacturing process. If the base is indeed .308 and it tapers down from there, then it wasn't formed correctly. It kinda looks like it didn't go through the final sizing die, but if the base is .308...
I called a couple times asking if I could buy machines and they aren't interested in selling anything separate. It's likely going to go to auction and get picked apart like vultures on roadkill.
