It's always interesting trying to rationalize the WHY with anything to do with TAXES. Bottom line, most of the tax laws make zero sense. Yes, I used to be a bean counter before moving into IT. The Guberment would tax at 99% if they thought they could get away with it.
While it is reality, it is not my personal reality. If I shoot through the door and kill that someone trying to kick it down to do what I assume would be no-good to me or my loved ones, the local DA would probably try to earn a few points with their electorate base. However, if I were to...
Yes, it all depends. Most of the time, shooting thru the door is a no-no. Sometimes, it is necessary and prudent, especially if you're a 70 YO grandma (or even a 40-something YO single mom) living alone in bumble.
Not a definitive statement at all. Trade Kansas for some State in a rural area. Huge difference in what LEOs will do in rural -vs-city. Justify shooting through a door, heck yes there are times that one should.
It would be stupid for a 70YO lady in a rural area where cops are 20 minutes away...
So much depends on so many different factors. State; age/race/sex of homeowner; rural/suburb/city
There's what's legal and then there's what may be generally acceptable. For example, an older lady homeowner who empties her 33 round Glock mag through the door in the middle of the night at the...
I hear ya. Not doing it for the kid and yes, if we hover, it would not be good for him.
I've always wanted a place where I could shoot in the backyard with the closest neighbor at least 1/8 to 1/4 mile away. Gotta be outside city limits. Believe it or not, I used to shoot my air rifle in...
That's some really good info. Thank you.
Being able to shoot in the backyard is probably #4 or #5 in my list of top 10 requirements. Only crime, medical care, & taxes sit higher on my list. Dealing with young & dumb hotheads is definitely not in the top 10. :)
Still have a little time...
2020 was an interesting year. Life can be a heck of a lot shorter than one thinks.
If you were able to retire a little earlier than expected, which State is more gun friendly? Kentucky or Tennessee?
I'm looking at the Bowling Green, KY and the Clarksville, TN area because my kid is at school...
The deals are there. I picked up a G22 LE trade-in for $318 - shipping included. A while back I got a 459 for $270. The quality of the pics made me think it was strictly a shooter. When I got it, I was shocked that it it just had minor wear around the edges and nothing else.
Top ten crappy places for gun owners according to G&A - 2015
1 - DC
2 - NY
3 - NJ
4 - MA
5 - HI
6 - CA
7 - CT
8 - MD
9 - IL
10 - RI
So, while not the worst, IL is definitely in the top 10. Cook and DuPage Counties are the worst in the State. Lake County comes in at a close...
Move just across the border to Wisconsin. Kenosha County is adjacent to IL's Lake County - WAY better gun laws and a heck of alot cheaper living as well. I used to live there.
LE will be the first to say . . . the most dangerous 911 calls are domestic disturbance calls. As a civi - never ever get involved in a domestic situation unless your life or that of a loved one is in danger. Did I say NEVER?
