Happy Birthday to the Late Skeeter Skelton

I am huge fan of Skeeter. I loved reading his articles in Shooting Times. Through his writings and photos are what brought me to appreciate and own 44 specials. He certainly was a trailblazer for the gun owning community.

King of modern defense revolvers: S&W 686+

My 1984 no dash 686 is a comforting weapon when carrying it. This and my S&W 29-2 4in are the perfect protection guns. Hard to compete or beat the older S&W revolvers

    A spare reload if needed

I am sure this topic has been covered many times before. I've read so many reports by police agencies , by the FBI and so called armchair experts. That the usual gun fight is settled within five feet and the average is three shots fired in 6 seconds. Am I being over the top paranoid by carrying...

Any 3" revolvers in .44 spc weighing in the 20-29oz range?

My Rossi 720c weighs empty at 27.5oz Had the bobbed hammer, but I put one on as I like a hammered revolver. S&W copied this to a degree and made their 696. I'll stack this 3in Rossi up against any 3in 44 Special. Accuracy, reliability, durability, conceal- ability. It's a great CCW piece. K...

    Rem Oil Use.

Anyone use this and like it? I'm a fan of it. I use it after a gun cleaning and also on my quarterly wipe down of my weapons to keep moisture and rust away.

What WON'T you carry and why?

    1. Won't carry Cheap "Saturday Night Specials" It's all about reliability 2. Won't carry single actions other than in the woods. To slow on a reload if needed 3. Won't carry an exotic caliber Ammo availability

    We all have favorites

When it comes to guns, I'm sure we all can agree everyone has their favorite revolver, auto , and so on. Maybe we inherited these guns, maybe we were given them as a gift. More than likely we worked hard and saved to get the guns we have today. My S&W 29-2 was just that. Saved, searched and...

    Grail gun happiness

It doesn't get much better than an original Ruger Redhawk in 357 magnum. Replaced the wood grips with a nice set of Craig Spegel grips. This was my Grail gun I had searched for, 20+ years, finally in 2023 I was successful.

Opinions on the perfect nightstand handgun.

Me and the wife are the only ones in our home. So I don't have to worry about small children or anyone else for that matter. My nightstand gun is my carry gun. Springfield Armory Hellcat Pro. And leaning against the corner wall right by my nightstand is my Maverick 88 security 12 gauge. And on...

    Where did this round go?

I bought a box of those and I fired four and the rest are in my guns. I think they're a terrific round and the reviews were awesome. In the lucky Gunner test was spot on. But it's sad that they did disappear I tried researching their availability. And I found nothing other than they weren't on...

    The classic "Hardware" double barrel

Bought this 12ga Double Barrel 20 years ago, it is a classic hardware gun from the depression era.. It's an Eastern Arms 12ga with 26in barrels. I've been able to date it to the mid to late 1930's. Has one minor 1in hairline crack in the stock, I've fixed that though. Most of the bluing has worn...
