In general yes, the standard/target velocity does better overall, but nothing is written in stone. Most plinkers, like my nephew, simply aren't going to buy $80/$90/$100 and up per brick .22 ammo. I only do for matches and match prep.

Those really are our two best options, better ammo or bigger targets. Well, or get closer. Bigger targets are cheaper. Y'all have seen my .22 targets, some are so big the worst ammo/shooter couldn't miss.

Area 419 is good to go, just small and very busy. I know, in this day and age we expect instant response.

My Colt Pattern 9MM AR runs on almost any JHP, but can be picky with TrFPs, go figure. If I were in the market for a 9MM carbine these days I'd be looking hard at the S&W M&P FPC.

I don't know if I have a "favorite" caliber. I have enough for a rainy day, ad components to load more.

My 5/16x24 bolt knob came in for my M6 CZ bolt.............. Sigh.........I worry about me sometimes. :D
