    Rost Martin RM 1 C

More proof that we are in a bit of a "golden age" for concealable handguns--one can be found to fit every preference and opinion and taste, as well as budget. "American made" will have a cachet for many, if they get a chance to see one--which is often one of the limitations of small...

    Carry Concealment

It is a bit counter-intuitive, but hear in Texas, my preference is a light, tight, moisture-wicking t-shirt next to the skin, then a looser, longer T as the cover garment. I will occasionally opt for a long-sleeve outer T as that give better sun & skeeter protection, which is an issue in our...

    Tisas M1911A1 ASF versus WW2 Remington-Rand

It's funny, I've not seen any of the ASFs at gun shows, I'm guessing they get snapped up in the Friday night horse trading. The previous TISAS were often a more "black" parking, so that middle gray is a very good rendering. Now, if they figure out a way to get that "greenish" hue from wrapping...

    New AR15 upper with issues

Admittedly so. The alternative being to not being part of the "shooting community," and that, well, it feels like it would be worse for me.

    Hold over or under?

For me, and others are free to feel differently, this is an argument for having only the one EDC, and practicing enough so that aiming is "reflexive." That you muscle and perceptive memory will put you on target is nearly no conscious effort. That latter, again for me, not for everyone, is...

do you stop shooting before taking air travel?

The "sensitivity" of the swab & shoe testing is more than passing weird. I've heard of more false positives from walking through fertilizer than from most shooting stuff. Mind, I have flown back from Knob Creek shoots with no undue "detections." I get stopped for "random electronics check"...

Here's a new one on me-

Dunno, I could be interested in even a blank-firing version if it included the bayonet and scabbard.

    New AR15 upper with issues

Es tut mir leid. Was this sold as a complete upper, or just the barrel? I know Scheisser uppers are very expensive over in Schweiz, but, I have head the barrels alone are pretty reasonable (but, that is within Schweiz). €1500 is not chicken feed, they need to make good on what you bought.

What is going on with guns

Probably the worst thing in the new CFR language is the phrase "pecuniary gain." They did not, in the pages of "clarification" embedded in the CFR manage to define that. It's not a common word in American English usage, outside of specialist uses. So, a "plain English" reading is "monetary...

    Ankle IFAK advice

The velcro front might be handy for one of these: Which could be useful info for others. YMMV.

    Naval Rifles

When "In Port" (this is along a pier, at anchor or on a mooring) an officer will be assigned as a Officer of the Deck. That worthy is to challenge all persons leaving or entering the ship, and is posted to the Quarterdeck for that duty. By long-standing USN custom, said officer carries...

    Diffs in ammo brands?

Yes. And within a given brand as well. Further a given firearm may "like," even "prefer" one brand over another. And the same firearm from earlier or later in production be different, too.

Does anyone own an Inland ILM170 30 Carbine?

Auction prices are all over the place. I saw, this last Saturday, a table with several legit Inland WWII Carbines for US$1200-1400; all were in good or better condition. That vendor had a very legit early-war National Postal Meter Carbine for what, given the rarity & scarcity, was a pretty...

    Naval Rifles

Cool coincidence, I have toured both of those. Alabama is the last of the South Dakota class ships built. She carries the Mk 6 16"/45 rifles. I've been to her sister, Massachusetts, over in Fall River, MA. I've toured all three of the Fletchers preserved in the US. Cassin Young probably...

    Naval Rifles

It wound up much more complicated than that. Turns out that non-precision shore bombardment could be a very good thing in case an opposed amphibious landing was wanted. (It's also has utility for unopposed landings once those are discovered and responded to.) Problem being that hitting the...

    My Latest Acquisition: Astra A-70

Definitely feels right, and the recoil really, really evokes the way a Star BM feels to shoot, where it's a compact, but "sturdy" more than "heavy" in the hand.

what won't you won't shoot at (and why)

I also avoid those. Further, I'm disinclined to shot towards anything with a ricochet risk, which includes water surfaces. Junk appliances and cars are also not first on my list for both leaving bad debris and shards, and also to decrease ricochet risk.

    22lr to 5.56

Actually, a complete upper is likely wanted, depending on whether the lower has a buffer or not (not really needed for 22lr) Now, a home-built lower fitted to a 22lr upper might have the buffer tube, and it would just be empty. Then, you'd need the spring & buffer elements (and, potentially...

Entirely satisfactory :D What it will tell most Texans is that you are near both great BBQ and great TexMex (But, you might not respond to "¿Jak se mas?")

Now, you know that's a bit of tease, "South Texas" is anywhere from Marfa to Edinburg, or Ozona to Boca Chica :)
