I bought a H 015 Henry Single Shot in 308 Remington.....prior to our deer season in MN.....and tried to get it ready in time for our deer hunt. Came up a bit short as I had some problems getting the right mounts.....which I finally bought from Henry. It's really a nicely put-together piece...
Many folks don't know this....but it is possible to read something you do not agree with on the inter-webs......and simply move-on with your life. However.....I simply don't have the same experience with accuracy as Bart may have. IME buggy whip barrels when heated up WILL (more often...
Another story on barrel throats....
Shortly after developing the OAL Gauge.....I stopped at a local gunshop while searching for a big game gun. (in those times I was measuring all kinds of gun barrels just to learn about the wearing process in gun barrels) I used to stop at this store on a...
I've shot a few rounds down range a Kelby's and participated in a couple of super shoots....and it is among the best ranges and venues that exist for bench rest shooters. The bench rest shooting game is a specialty.....much like any other discipline. It's a game for those that like to live...
^ I suppose I have owned well over 30 various calipers over the years. Some top-shelf units....and some low cost models. I always took low cost calipers to the SHOT Show as I would have them set all around.....and didnt worry about losing them. They seem to last a long time and give good...
Just some food for thought.....
Folks that play the bench rest game have all sorts of practices the average hunter cannot or shouldn't do. Many folks shooting bench rest guns will seat the bullets hard into the rifling or on the rifling.....and have very small dimintional tolerances...
BINGO! Spend some time to clean the gun....then develop a light, yet positive touch of the bullet ogive to the lands......via using a dowel thru the muzzle to "jockey" the bullet back and forth. You WILL find a repeatably, tho light, "sticking point" of the bullet to the origins of the...
I dropped out from this forum for quite some time. The principals of accuracy reloading have not changed a bunch. Had some thoughts on making the cartridge fit the chamber.....and thought I might share. Kinda wish I had this anology when I owned Stoney Point Products. Here goes:
Most...
Was just thinking.......If your keeping this gun for your family......you may want to document everything you learn and keep that info with the gun for future owners. Hard to find this kinda information in another 50 years.
Good to see you here MO.
I own two Remingtons. An old 721 from the 50's and a 700 Mountain Rifle. Will the triggers be REPLACED or re-worked? Are the new triggers adjustable for light let-off. Any other info on what kind of trigger will be provided?
Both my triggers break nice now.....still I want to have...
Lots of good advice guys....thanks.
I may try to shoot a few of these choices at our local gun range before making the trek to AZ. I have read allot about the "lincoln log" 230 grn slugs outta a 38 Special case at about 900 fps. Sounds like that would move some pins.
I may do...
I'm waiting to hear more information on the rules for the guys I will be shooting with. It's my understanding that its all open sights. I think it's pretty informal so far, but growing each month. I am staying in this area over the winter....but have not been to one of their shoots...
Mostly played with revolvers a bit in the past....but not much handgun experience. I'll be spending some time this winter where they do some pin shoots......and have been considering a gun best suited for that purpose....and range plinking.
My current interest is in the Springfiled Range...
I've struggled to understand some of the benefits and shortcommings of different pistol-style bullets.
Besides low-cost plinking rounds at steel......I use my wheel guns of interest for general bear protection and pest control around my property. (also for SD - a different topic.)...
I've got a couple of grandsons.....and own a single six and a super bearcat. The bearcat really fits their small hands....BUT....I wish it was as easy to cock the hammer as the single six. Takes allot of instruction to keep the muzzle in a safe direction when they cock that hammer.
What is the message on your banners?? i.e. What do they say?
I may donate some banners locally (if / when we need 'em) at future rally's. Fishing for a good banner idea.
