    Mare's leg type guns- why?

:rofl::rofl: There's probably a lot of truth to that. I for one, got most of my "postgraduate" firearms instruction on internet message forums though. 😁

    Chuck ??

Could a coyote, or even someone's roving dog have carried it off?

    Swiss Army...tool

Hopefully! To me, a file in a SAK would be a heck of a lot more useful than a corkscrew. I mean really - does anyone ever use the corkscrew in their SAK? I pull the cork from a bottle of wine occationally, but I've never once pulled a cork when I was somewhere where the only corkscrew...

Do you guys mount your own scopes?

I hunt in Idaho, and I occationally do take shots "from one mountain to another." Of course, there's a lot of mountains in Idaho, so "from one mountain to another" here might not be as far as it sounds. ;) Nevertheless, I usually mount my own scopes as well (and my wife's too). I've been...

Can a bad trigger help you be a better shooter?

"Bad Trigger" is what Roy Rogers said when his horse stepped on his foot. 😁

    Largest caliber you own?

I have a .45-110 Sharps, but I guess my largest "caliber" firearm is my 50 caliber Hawken.

    Burro Defense Gun

More than likely, I think. I grew up in the country myself, but my Mom and Dad owned and operated a small country store/gas station. Consequently, I knew a lot about pumping gas (no self-serve in those days), checking oil levels and tire pressures, and washing windshields. I never spent much...

Bill would prevent sales of guns that can be converted with ‘Glock switches’

No, I haven't heard about Glock switches on the evening news. Seeing as how I seldom, if ever watch the evening news though, I might not be a really good example of how many people know what "Glock switches" are. I mean, we don't even turn the TV on until the evening news is over, and Jeopardy...

Bill would prevent sales of guns that can be converted with ‘Glock switches’

Yep, my first reaction was, "What's a 'Glock' switch?" Now that I've heard about Glock switches though, I'm counting the hours until I hear about them on the evening news. ;)

    Eye relief with scopes

Sorry. I was being a bit snarky. The fact is a scope that's going on a hard recoiling rifle can be "better" if it has a little more eye relief. It might prevent a case of "scope-eye" (catching the scope in your eye when the rifle recoils). Not if the shooter gets too close to the scope anyway...

    Eye relief with scopes

What is "better" eye relief? Do handgun scopes have "better" eye relief because handgun scopes have a lot more eye relief than rifle scopes? o_O "Plenty" of eye relief???

    Eye relief with scopes

Keep what level??? You don't need a vise to keep anything level - neither the scope nor the rifle. o_O

    Eye relief with scopes

 https://www.bushnell.com/through-the-lens/bu-blog-eye-relief-everything-you-need-to-know.html Besides this one, there's a lot more "free" sources of info about eye relief on the internet. And IMO, some of them are better than the Bushnell one - at least they're easier for me to...

    Eye relief with scopes

Yep. Absolutely. Nobody else can mount that scope in the right place for you. It's your rifle and scope, they're your eyes, and you're the one that's going to be holding that rifle and looking through that scope. As I said in my previous post, I mount my rifle scopes myself...

    Eye relief with scopes

:thumbup::thumbup: Yeppers, I'm another "that guy." ;) I do have the tools for mounting scopes though (I get by without a vise), so I usually mount them myself. After all, I'm the one that's going to be shooting the rifle - not some guy that works behind the gun-counter in Sportsman's...

do you stop shooting before taking air travel?

My wife's brother was here (from San Diego) for a few days visit, and he flew out this afternoon. There wasn't a problem at all at the airport even though we took him shooting down at the county gravel pit yesterday. And he has a pacemaker too, so he couldn't go through the metal detector and...
