    Rmr 75gr bthp over rl15

What you need is a baseline of what the rifle is capable of. Maybe some gold medal match in the same bullet weight. If the rifle is only capable of 2MOA with a “gold standard“ load, you may be wasting components chasing a 1MOA load.

    First Load Development

I have almost never matched speed trying to duplicate factory ammo if accuracy was the goal. The times I matched speed, the accuracy fell off or the recoil was much different. Unless you plan to use those rounds for self defense and they have a set speed in order to open up, close enough should...

    9mm subsonic.

Should have mentioned, these will be fired in a Glock 17 and the AR9 is an 8” barrel. I don’t think adding a threaded barrel to the Glock will increase the length enough to worry about, but I may be wrong. Also, just looking for enough oomph to cycle and keep it reliable with accuracy being my...

An unusual reloading setup? Single stage for sizing/decapping, RCBS Auto Prime, Dillon 5 stage to finish

Two presses will do what you want. A single sage to deprime/resize, then wet tumble and dry. I use the Lee bench primer to prime and then another trip through the single to flare if I’m loading cast. All my loading is done on a single stage, and I store my brass primed until I decide to load it...

    9mm subsonic.

If I’m understanding this correctly, to make it as quiet as possible, you want a small charge of fast powder and a heavy(147 grain) bullet at or below ~1000 fps? Is that correct? I’m hearing that suppressor applications are getting approved much more quickly and am seriously considering one for...

= Verified with PV/Alliant customer service = Alliant to suspend canister powders significantly - Time for comparable powder substitutions again

Making nitrocellulose isn’t that hard, must be the regulations stopping it from being produced here.

    45acp Case Longevity Update

Another thing, all my brass is range pickup. I haven’t bought factory ammo in 25 years. I pick up every piece of brass I can, if it’s good I’ll use it. If it’s bad I’ll scrap it. If I don’t need it, trade or sell for more powder or primers.

    Powder prices

If you think $60/lb is bad now, just wait and see how much if may go up towards the end of the year. It could make you wish you could buy powder for that ridiculous price. Ecery election cycle prices increase, stock is hard to get, and we all regret not buying more when it was more available...

    45acp Case Longevity Update

Lightly, I flare just enough to have a place to hold the bullet while seating.

    45acp Case Longevity Update

I had a batch of 50 38 Special cases I kep track of for a while and stopped counting at 55 loads. That was a couple years ago and I’m still shooting them so I’d estimate close to 100 loadings on them. About half of the nickel plating is gone and it’s hard to make out the head stamps on them, and...

Deprimed a finger, yup. Sorry you experienced it.

    Wadcutters?

If you can’t find factory wadcutters, or the aforementioned gold dots, loading them yourself if you trust yourself will do just fine. There has only been one case where reloaded ammo was a factor, out of how many defensive gun uses in the last few decades? Nothing to worry about. The odds of you...

    Powder preservation

In the original container seems to be fine for at least 35+ years for me. All stored inside the house in my case.

    You know that sick feeling

You are definitely not alone. For some dang reason it’s almost always the last shot too.

    help picking a press

When I worked, I was normally shooting 12-1500 rounds a month. On a weekend I’d deprime all my brass with a universal deprimer and tumble them. During the week here and there I’d resize in batches, flare in batches, then hand prime in batches. I store my brass ready to load, just add powder and...

Should I lube before sizing these?

I’ve cast and coated several tens of thousands of bullets and never lubed any. That said, I size them after casting then coat and size again, so they are not far off of final size. An example is my 357, after casting they get sized .357 then coated then sized .358. It never occurred to me to...

    Teaching my Son to Reload

All 3 of my boys started shooting with me around age 5, and started depriming shortly after. My oldest and youngest (29 & 16) will get the full lesson this summer and each will have a dedicated press on the bench. My oldest and I built his first AR a couple months ago and my youngest will get to...

    SHORT CARTRIDGE CASE QUESTION?????

Here’s a thought, if you have a bunch of short cases, just shoot lighter weight bullets in them at the same OAL.

    Chamfering vs flaring/crimping for 9mm?

I shoot mainly cast and coated in 9mm, and lots of them. I flare the neck just enough for the bullet to sit in by itself then seat and don’t need to crimp them. It’s all in the die setup. All I use is range pickup brass and none have been measured in decades.
