So, mentioned this one a while back.
First rifle Remington sent was a mess.
Second one needed mild cleanup, but was do-able.
McMillan HTG camo fiberglass to replace the flimsy Hogue stock.
Action full length glass bedded.
Timney trigger, 3 pounds even.
Triggerplate bottom metal had to trimmed...
It was a package deal arranged by my Federal/Savage contact at Vista.
Rifle, scope, rings, five different Federal .308 products (two 165s & three 150s).
Off a rest at 100 yards, minor winds 3-5 mph, variable Scout scope dialed to its lowest setting, averaged around 1.5 inches for 3-shot...
For them what's interested in little blasters, working on a 3-gun piece with Smith's Shield EZ, Springfield's 911, and the Taurus Spectrum.
The first two have large visible sights, and SA triggers.
The Taurus has almost no sights, and a 5-mile DAO trigger.
Off a rest at 10 yards, the Taurus...
I don't get very excited over most new intros nowdays, but THIS one could very well be IT!
15 rounds, short barrel, 2.0 features & ergos.
Waiting impatiently for a sample. :)

Have a sample in all-weather trim here.
Skinner sights & 16.5 barrel, big looper, stainless.
Have not shot it yet, but it appears to be built pretty much sorta kinda like they used to.
Very good stock to metal fit.
Smooth action.
Very clean machining.
And it has NO canted front sight on it...
Yesterday finally got around to doing the head-to-head with both guns.
The new 66 snub was new, the old 66 snub was a minty late 80s gun.
With five commercial .357 jacketed loads, the new outshot the old at 25 yards off a rest at an indoor range.
The new 66 with very shallow cone has been...
Just as an FYI for dedicated levergunners who might not know (I didn't).
Working with a Turnbull 92 short rifle in .45 Colt.
Regular "pre-made" offering, not a customer send-in for refinish.
Besides being quite pretty with octagon & crescent, they've removed the "Lawyer Stuff" (technical term)...
Project completed.
5500 rounds fired through a new sample.
5000 was BH FMJ.
That load & five others tested for accuracy before & after.
Lubed once, prior to commencing shooting.
Not lubed again, pistol was essentially bone dry after the first thousand rounds.
Never cleaned.
Same mag throughout...
Getting very close to shipping.
I have an advance sample in lockup at my dealer.
I have a copy of the two-page letter from ATF to Mossberg buying off on the new model, but in my state a 14-inch NON-NFA shotgun is defined as illegal.
I've forwarded that ATF letter to the appropriate state...
