    Steel Targets

From what I read NM 500 is the same hardness , if not a little more harder than AR 500 . I talked to Mark at Shooting Targets 7 and he told me that velocities over 2800 fps at the target can still dimple the steel regardless of the thickness . He advised me to use their thickness calculator . It...

    Steel Targets

The house is at my back about 90 yards behind me up on a 18’ rise . The road is about 435 yards behind my targets , also there is a gradual 18’ rise to the top from the flat bottom where my targets will be placed .

    Steel Targets

About 90 yards directly on the front side of the targets . The house is on a rise about 18 feet higher than the target area . You can see the rise some in the picture and that is pretty much the picture directly behind me if I were shooting . I edited my post to try and make it clearer . I...

    Steel Targets

Here is where I am going to build my range behind my house . It really doesn’t show the elevation difference in my pictures , but it gradually rises where the top of the rise is 18 foot higher than the flat ground by my Garmin gps . Where the house is , it is about the same rise in elevation ...

    Steel Targets

At Shooting Targets 7 they have a calculator to determine the thickness of your plates using bullet mass and velocity . It looks like for everything that I have except for .44 magnum I should get 1/4” thick plates and I don’t shoot .44 magnum much , maybe get one plate 5/16 or 3/8” thick for it...

    Steel Targets

I just talked to Mark at Shooting Targets 7 and he talked me out of using chains for pistol shooting , because of the chance of where the bullet might go hitting the chain and being up close to the target .

I did a search comparing NM 500 and AR 500 steel and the results that I saw were they are comparable to each other .

I want to setup a steel target pistol range at my house ? Midway has some Birchwood Casey NM 500 1/2” steel plates for 1/2 off . Are they any good ? And how would you hang them , using stands , or hanging from a post with chains ? Should I be concerned with ricochets hitting my house about 75...

The dumbest thing I know of

I live in a rural area and there is nothing worse than a feral cat , or your free roaming house cat on small game and birds . Virginia recently made it a felony to kill a dog , or a cat . There is an exception to the law , you can kill them if they are chasing your livestock . I guess I am going...

Gun powder. It's a beautiful sight to see.

The prices that I have been seeing isn’t pretty . I saw a 1lb. bottle of Varget at my LGS last week for $60 dollars .

    The PPK Lives Again !!!

And with NATO ammunition the results would have probably been the same using it in 1899 .

    The PPK Lives Again !!!

I think that the Army learned something in the Philippines war against the Morro people and the .38 , thus the .45 acp and 1911 pistol .
