Sounds like “bubba” really did a D-Lux trigger job on the second gun. What really pisses me off about stuff like that is that rather than doing the right thing “bubba” just traded it away and was perfectly okay with putting lives in jeopardy with an unsafe pistol. Glad you didn’t get hurt.
I occasionally see WWII Inglis Hi-Powers for sale on GB with wooden shoulder stocks that are attachable. Wouldn’t mind having one but I’m concerned that the use of such an attachment would qualify as a short barreled rifle. If in fact the ATF considers these short barreled rifles, could they be...
I acquired this pistol some time ago for $425. Like most pistols in this class, it’s been carried far more than it’s been shot. The picture doesn’t show the superficial scratches as well as I would like. None of the scratches are deep. Figured I could clean the gun up without too much trouble...
Thanks. The pistol shoots 2”ish groups at 25 yards. G10 grips are nearly indestructible. I thought the black & grey would look nice on the pistol. I’m going to carry this pistol and it always seems like the butt it getting dinged when I get in or out of the truck.
Found this one on-line and couldn’t resist. ‘95 vintage MKIII in mint condition. It came with after market walnut grips that included finger groves on the front strap…not particularly fond of these type grips so I replaced them with some G10 grips. Browning isn’t making any more of these...
I never knew that. Kind of similar to the Browning Hi-Powers that were made in Belgium, assembled in Portugal but never marked as such. Years later the Hi-Powers that were marked “Assembled in Portugal” hurt the value of the Hi-Power. I would lIke to know more about the reasons for these changes.
I‘ve owned a Walther PP in 32 acp for a number of years. It’s a well made pistol…a German LEO trade-in that was imported to the US years ago. About a year ago I found this one on GB and bought it for $700ish...well below the price of a German Walther. Got to know the importer who resides in...
I know what you mean. There’s something cosmic about parts that are air soluble. Now that I have four of them I’m quite sure I’ll never lose another one of the darn things. I’m a sucker for good deals. Sooner or later I’m gonna come across a 1955 parts gun that’s missing the slide bushing,
The resurgence of interest in the Browning Hi-Power has been extraordinary. Seems like all FN had to do was take the Hi-Power out of production and the cost of even badly used Hi-Powers went through the roof. I’ve seen the result of poor maintenance and what it can do to a Hi-Power. It isn’t...
I made my initial post several weeks ago when the barrel bushing of my Browning 380 re-orientated itself and got launched down range 40+ yards. Took me and another club member nearly two hours to find the bushing. Needless to say, I was not pleased at the prospect of turning an expensive handgun...
I have two Berettas, Tom Cat and a model 81, a Walther PP and a Manurhin ( Walther PP Clone ). These guns were basically intended to be used at bad breath distances. They are accurate and well made for their intended purpose. But, accuracy with most 32 acp pistols in this class is a relative...
I have a soft spot for Hi-Powers. The two on the left are SA-35s. Top right is a 1973 vintage gun that was re-worked by a gunsmith in Atlanta years ago to run hollow points. Also did a trigger job…4.5 pound trigger that breaks like glass. The one on the bottom right is a 1983 vintage that is...
Most, if not all of the older Browning Hi-Powers were manufactured to run ball ammo. I have one that dates back to 1973 that was re-worked by a gunsmith in Atlanta that specialized in Hi-Powers. He re-contoured the feed ramp and did a trigger job on the gun. That pistol shoots anything I run in...
