An unusual reloading setup? Single stage for sizing/decapping, RCBS Auto Prime, Dillon 5 stage to finish

That's a pretty good description of the state of things. You must have noticed that I didn't sing the accolades of the RCBS entry, even though I love mine. I won't sugar coat it..... RCBS didn't finish the job thanks to their conglomerate task masters who controlled the purse strings.....and...

An unusual reloading setup? Single stage for sizing/decapping, RCBS Auto Prime, Dillon 5 stage to finish

Somebody needs to fix this THR problem.....too easy to screw up editing and add another post.....especially with a new HP laptop with a touch pad that is worthless to type with. First laptop I truly hate. Curser surfs all over the screen and causes pure hell trying to share something. And...

An unusual reloading setup? Single stage for sizing/decapping, RCBS Auto Prime, Dillon 5 stage to finish

No secret just followed the recipe the Mod at AR15 sweared by many years ago. This is what I do, I'm certain it's not the only way. Works every time for me, illustrated below: Here's the steps that go along with the picture: 1. cut top out of a 2 Liter Soda bottle, so that it is 6"...

An unusual reloading setup? Single stage for sizing/decapping, RCBS Auto Prime, Dillon 5 stage to finish

So far that's zero for me. Though I've heard of it, I've never personally experienced it tumbling .45acp, .40, .357, .223, or .308.......so far...... since my purchase of a Thumblers B 15 years ago. I do use an RCBS separator to separate pins and brass immediately after a tumble...... probably...

An unusual reloading setup? Single stage for sizing/decapping, RCBS Auto Prime, Dillon 5 stage to finish

Oh my gosh......not ever going to that one, unless intended for to be set up for ONE cartridge. With the Pro 2000 or Pro Chucker 7 or Lee APP or 6000, I could change calibers 3 times in that much time. Can't speak for Dillons or LnL's since I've never witnessed a caliber change on those.

An unusual reloading setup? Single stage for sizing/decapping, RCBS Auto Prime, Dillon 5 stage to finish

There you go Mike......that's a pretty good picture of the many faces of progressive reloading!:) They all work. What ever presses you get you will have to learn and learn to like. You will adapt them to you and what works for you. I will only add this to what I said in the other thread: For...

How many have done this before?

I drew blood similarly, when I first started using a progressive. I was trying to take advantage of progressive speed by learning to feed .45 ACP round nose really fast. Placing bullets, getting your hand out of the way before the ram goes up trying to get into a rhythm. It was just a pinch...

    A new monopoly?

Yes, I do remember 19.9 cents but I only had a Honda 50 motorcycle at 13 years old! But at my construction site cleanup job I made 25 cents an hour to pay for it. And you're right about nothing much going down over time, with one more exception......quality. :) Walkalong! I Love that...

    A new monopoly?

I was in Vicksburg, Miss. in 1972 during a gas war....... 25 cents/gallon..........for a whole week!!!! :) Two years later, I bought a Ruger 10-22 with a real Walnut stock for $59 at........a grocery store???? Maybe it was the Viet Nam War that changed the world.

    A new monopoly?

That's me........in the rocking chair/sled with spikes!:) This is a quote from the Hodgden site concerning the new acquisition of RCBS: I'm stoked........with Vista in sell mode, I had visions of European Ownership, like many others here. Relief is what I feel. Now maybe RCBS will finally...

Have people successfully modified Hornady or Dillon case collators to fit the RCBS case feed tube?

I mostly answered your post in your post so expand it. :) and what else to use a 3D printer for? I've probably made my wife a dozen things she loves, even fancy Kleenex boxs......plus Christmas gifts for my Grand Kids........well......like these.....who doesn't need another hobby! ;) ']

Have people successfully modified Hornady or Dillon case collators to fit the RCBS case feed tube?

If I was shooting only 9mm, I'd go with the way cheaper Lee 6000. After doing it with both presses, the seven station green press hard to beat, but I think the 6000 comes dang close for half the money. What you saw in the video was pre-deprimed (on APP with feeder) and wet tumbled brass/dried...

Have people successfully modified Hornady or Dillon case collators to fit the RCBS case feed tube?

The problem with the stock case feeder is adjusting for different case lengths, and keeping those adjustments from loosening and spilling cases everywhere. The first attempt to fix that was the holes you see in the video in the case feed cylinder slots, where as stock they expected you to just...

    SS pins and decapping first

I tried wet tumbling without removing the primers with a batch of .40 S&W. Mind you I'm in almost as dry as Arizona, New Mexico. I tried to reload it two days later.......what a mess! Still water in the pockets, and I wasn't too happy depriming/sizing on my Pro 2000 progressive. No I didn't...

Have people successfully modified Hornady or Dillon case collators to fit the RCBS case feed tube?

Not many of us PC7 owners, but I love mine once I made some simple mods to the case feeder. And I made my own collators both case and bullet using a 3D printer. All my projects are documented on the THR forum. If you get interested just use the search using my name and Pro Chucker 7. As for...

Hodgdon Powder acquires RCBS from Vista Outdoor

The two companies have past history together. I found this Hodgdon page interesting: https://hodgdonpowderco.com/news/hodgdon-powder-company-acquires-rcbs-reloading/ The more I read the more I feel good about RCBS's future with Hodgdon.

Hodgdon Powder acquires RCBS from Vista Outdoor

I wondered Where Kent Sakamoto of RCBS went when he quit RCBS a few years ago. Hodgden! Now we know who probably put the bug in Hodgden's ear.;) Old Product Manager of RCBS now National Sales Manager of RCBS! The plot thickens........

    .45 ACP Brass Primer Sorter

You can buy it at home depot in the flourescent lighting area in a 2'X4' rectangle. It's a lighting lens cover used in suspended ceilings. Not sure why they call it eggcrate. Before I got a 3d printer I did projects with it. I made a case trays and a rifle case conversion of Lee's shaker...

Hodgdon Powder acquires RCBS from Vista Outdoor

Remember Silicon Valley? Remember Texas Instruments? Remember Hewlett Packard? Hewlett Packard, a once all-American company that is now a Chinese Company. I was told by my favorite independent auto bodyshop owner, that every body part he has to order comes from China whether genuine Toyota...
