Cross another one off the list.

I have a red black plaid wool coat, almost too warm to wear deer hunting LOL. Never did get the Fudd hat to go with. Wore it sitting on creekbank, snow a couple inches on shoulders. Big soft flakes came down for an hr. Stopped and a little 6 pt came up to 20 yards or so. 35 rem in hand. Let...

Cross another one off the list.

Ive seen 742s jam. One was on a big guy that was soft. Same ammo and rifle worked fine for me, but im lean n mean. I wonder how many rifles jammed on folks hunting w puffy coats and or mounted rifles awkwardly in a hurry.

Reportedly the 742 .30-06 models could suffer bolt rail chew. 180 gr and heavier bullets supposedly the culprit.

The basketweave was on the BDL. But lots of people swapped wood. A real BDL should have a step at top rear of receiver.

    Damaged my scope😡

I had a rifle w Steiner do a flop on the carpeted floor. Oops. Didn't phase it, but honestly wasn't much of a "drop test". Some comfort knowing it didn't cause an issue.

I thought the SP was matte w wood. Of course somebody could swap stock sets, and Big Green had versions not catalogued. Do know the first SP stuff was not walnut on the 870/1100 ( first yr or two- then walnut and even later offered in synth ). Id like a 7600 synth. Carbine 35 rem or 308, or a...

Do you guys mount your own scopes?

I have seen mismachined bases, rings. Also seen receivers not D& T correctly ( alignment ). Dropping a machined rod or scope alignment bars in the rings BEFORE trying a scope can avoid an expensive oops. Got a boogered up rifle.a while back and had to shim one of the bases and use a lot of...

Cross another one off the list.

There are two versions of 760. The later version looks like a 7600 and has telescoping forend and no barrel support The older one has a barrel support at the end of the forend tube. However it doesnt bear hard on the bbl. Could almost be considered free floating IMHO. My ' 63 ADL.in ..35 rem...

    Are 44 Revolvers Dying?

My buds and I used to shoot our 44 mags a fair bit. Recoil and blast once you got used to it, was fun. Personally I dont think the sub 255 gr stuff in .44 mag to be all that. But its as much as Id ever need. Killed a few deer, it works. Just shot my Contender in 35 rem and my arthritis didnt...

    Are 44 Revolvers Dying?

Been shooting .44 mags for about 40 years. Always full throttle, but mostly w 180 and 200gr handloads. Just dont need the blast and roar anymore. Hardly handgun hunt these days. Arthritis sucks. Not a .357 fan. Dislike .41 mag and .45 colt Nope......just get a .44 mag and heaven forbid, back...

Ruger Super Blackhawk Hunter vs Redhawk?

I dont let a SBH roll in the hand. I get lower on it so it doesnt shift. Why I also dont shoot 300 grainers LOL

Ruger Super Blackhawk Hunter vs Redhawk?

I like the Hogue rubber grips on a SRH. Nothing helps a regular Redhawk LOL Superblackhawk, factory grip is fine w me, but i dont shoot over 240 gr. Did get new grips for mine, from Ruger, and their contouring was atrocious. Had to work em.down to be comfy. Squared edges suck LOL

Henry Single Shot in 450 Bushmaster- scoping issues

Had a couple rigs w shallow holes ( compared to other examples of same model ). No big deal to take off a thread or two. Cut a little long then grind to proper length Use a screw checker, when done removal of screw chases the threads...

    Plinking / teaching optic for a 10/22

Recently compared a Japanese Weaver 6X to my Leupold VX1 3-9X set at 6X. Leupold was easier to get behind. Maybe could get used to the Weaver, but why even try? LOL

Have been running Harris since 76 IIRC. Leg notch (LM Models) Use mine on a bench, or prone. Next one will be swivel version. USA made, I'll stick with the original :)

    Are 44 Revolvers Dying?

I broke my 629-1 4" shooting 300 grainers maxd. Smith fixed it pretty quick though (trigger pivot pin sheared). Like a 629 fine, but would get a -3 and then stay 240gr or lighter.
