"How big the horns are", Well that speaks magnitudes as to how much some folks know about game that shed Antlers, right, write, or is it rite?
We've always been hated because we don't go home empty handed each year, and because we didn't do it the right way. We get called cheaters too...
I don't either, it's always a big let down to know that we can't hunt until the next season.
But OTOH, coyote and other varmints help pass the time, and then there's Spring Turkey season too, which is almost a month long.
GS
Well, maybe some hunters are content to go home empty handed every year, but I we are not among that group. Shame on us for enjoying filling our tags every single year, and even though the odds are stacked against us. If it means losing one or two now and then, then that also defines the term...
Crimp is not deep enough, not even close.
Or, you may be using the wrong wad, thus not allowing the crimp to attain the necessary depth due to the shot column preventing it.
I've loaded with those hulls, and as long as your crimp is adjusted correctly, and you use the appropriate wad...
Buck, it is illegal to use dogs at all for deer and most other big game in Arizona, leashed or not.
BS, you can't effectively calculate success ratio based on the number of bones you find during walks in the woods. According to Arizona Game & Fish, the official for archery deer in Arizona...
Other than hunting with a spear, I don't think there is any other weapon used for hunting that has a higher rate of risk involved, regarding losing an animal. We try to be as effective as possible, but it's still archery, and thus has the highest rate of lost game of any other method of taking...
Axxxel, dogs are illegal to use in Arizona for big game. Believe me, if it were legal, I wouldn't hesitate to use one during archery season.
First of all, let me say I have zero input on what shots my sons take, they are big boys, and in this particular instance this son is 31 yrs. old, so...
My Son's are all very accomplished hunters, with both archery and firearm.
Last January one of my boys killed his 2014 mule deer right at day break, and on Jan. 1st, short season too say the least. So this year we went out on the first day he had available, which I think was Jan. 2nd, and...
BDS makes a valid point, most bullets will have at least that much weight variation to begin with.
Specifically referring to 9mm, I've used 125 gr data with 124 gr. bullets for as long as I can remember, no issues here.
But when the weight variation starts getting more significant, I...
I've had great results with old Speer data using IMR-4350 for the last 30 yrs. with both 52 and 55 gr. bullets. But Varget is also great, and a few others too.
GS
Na, you'll be fine with magnum primers. I don't think you'll be using those snake loads for busting clays or upland bird hunting, so have at it, the snakes aren't going to know the difference.
And pressures certainly won't be an issue with an appropriate charge intended for snake loads.
GS
As long as you are doing a proper work up, you can seat them any where from slightly jammed into the lands, to off the lands, it's all about finding what shoots the most accurately.
Just know that as you approach close proximity to the lands, pressures can increase. That said, since...
Ok, if they are a cup & core projectile, just use jacketed data of similar or same weight bullets. Hodgdon, Hornady, Alliant, pretty much any published data for a bullet of same bullet description, they are all good sources for a load table.
Powders to use would be those published for that...
Here's something to try that could at least help rule out the brass as the culprit.
Resize, then trim a few pieces of brass, maybe 10 or so. Then ream, and chamfer the inside of the case mouth pretty good, enough to give it a good bevel to help the bullet seat without shaving, and to help...
I think Rule3 is on to something, sounds like a defective die.
So as Rule3 said, you obviously know how to set up a die Arch, that said, you also know that when adjusted down enough to bell, one can bell a case mouth enough to almost split it. So unless something is wrong with the die, you...
From the very get go, which has been several decades, I've used CCI almost exclusively. Other than that, Winchester now and then.
Shotgun is different though, I always use the primer specified in the recipe.
GS
I haven't referenced a published OAL for any cartridge since shortly after taking up reloading several decades ago.
Just seat them where they shoot most accurately, and will fit the magazine. This is one of the perks of reloading, that being, we have the ability to tailor our loads to what...
