Best 9mm revolver for EDC -or- just stay with my 357

    1) no 2) A: I don't care for rimless cartridges in a revolver, having to deal with moon clips B: Not a big fan of 9mm in general 3) No opinion on Charter Arms, I've never owned one, don't plan to buy one. Of the 24 handguns I own, 14 are revolvers, and only one of the semiauto's is a 9mm. I...

    Most rust resistant handgun?

Most rust resistant would be something with a plastic frame in a Kydex holster.

Caliber selection for small frame hunter

I'd also look for a bolt action Grendel. Smallest case of the bunch, least recoil, very accurate and the performance goes way past 200 yards. 300BLK might also be something to look at, but effectiveness decreases past 250 yards for animals the size if deer. These also the only cartridges...

"My favorite .357 all-steel revolver"? I haven't made up my mind yet.

    I bought a Pinto that doesn’t run…

Looks great! Since S&W didn't usually waste anything, I suppose someone somewhere has a M57 with a nickel frame and blued barrel and cylinder.

New Uberti 1873 Cylinder Gap Issues - Is this Normal/OK for Uberti?

Both my Uberti .45C revolvers are much tighter than yours at the BC gap, mine measure around 0.004-0.005" You probably have so much flame cutting because the gap is uneven and the flame front gets "channeled" towards the wider portion, which in your case is the top strap. I think I'd be in...

    Mare's leg type guns- why?

Because STEVE MCQUEEN. He made it look uber-cool. If he'd had a long-handled cooking spoon in a holster, everybody would have wanted one of those.. The funny part of his Mare's leg is, it was made from a Winchester Model 1892 chambered in .44-40. In the two shows he used it, Trackdown (the...

How much ammo do you have in your favorite caliber?

I could never accumulate that much ammo for my favorite caliber guns. I shoot them too much. The most I have for any one gun is about 750 rounds, but I don't shoot it that often. I have 4 .45 Colt firearms and 5 .357M firearms and the most I can seem to accumulate ammo-wise is about 500 rounds...

    Naval Rifles

Here is an information placard on the side of one of USS North Carolina main gun turrets. The Showboat had 45 caliber 16" guns. Iowa class battleships had 50 caliber 16" guns.

    broke with tradition

I think the 1858 Remington is a handsome revolver. I've thought of getting the Uberti/Taylors/ Cimarron version only with the .45 Colt conversion cylinder, but haven't justified the desire yet. I have the Taylor's 1875 Remington, which is the follow-on to the 1858 and looks a lot like it, but it...

    .41 Mag Association

The relatively short original production is one of the reasons M58's are desirable, beside them being .41 Magnum. It's also the only revolver I can think of other than the M26 that did not have an engineering change during its entire run, so all of them are no-dash guns. However, the M26 is...

In addition to the keys to the penthouse, you also get valet parking. A first-year production M57 or M58 would gain you unlimited access behind the green door. Both my M57 and M58 are S prefix guns.

Walnut Grips for my new Pietta 1873 Western II on their way

They look nice, I like the darker striping. I took the factory finish off my two Uberti's to make them look "more period correct" and was surprised to find nice pieces of walnut hiding under the reddish lacquer finish. I sealed them with Danish oil and waxed them and like the look much better.

Henry Big Boy X Model - High Grin Factor!

I really like the look of the case color receiver, I wanted the Big Boy rifle with one, but they were usually back-ordered and local sales didn't have one. I finally got the brass receiver and like it almost as well. I'm thinking of getting the larger loop lever for it now. Have you looked at...

    Trigger Job on Minty 19-3

IMO, any modification from how it was delivered from the factory will diminish its collector value to a serious collector. But, a serious collector would also want the original box and accessories plus the paperwork and paper wrapping, so it's already lost value. If you plan to keep it and make...

One More Sixgun! Uberti El Patron .45 Colt.

If your gun has the hammer with the concealed rod and floating firing pin, the trigger has a small arm on it that engages the rod. You could cut that arm off, I suppose, or maybe it's okay to leave it, but I got the trigger without it , just so the action would be true to the 4-click design.

One More Sixgun! Uberti El Patron .45 Colt.

Taylor and Company has the 4-click hammer and trigger. You won't need the cylinder rod. I retrofitted my Uberti 1873 with these and like the gun much better after getting rid of the safety hammer. It is a drop-in replacement and can be done in a half hour without hurrying. There are youtube...

    What grips are these?

Close, but no cigar. Eustachian Tubes run from the middle ear to the throat and help equalize pressure. What you're looking for is 'escutcheon', the little threaded brass piece that the screw threads into. You get an "E" for effort, though :p
