I’m almost legally blind and I definitely benefit from having more daylight around the front sight. Most stock factory front sights are too thick for me; I’ve had good success with Dawson Precision thin fiber optic front sights and blacked out rears.

I have a Thomas Bland and Sons .470 NE double rifle (1912, I think) and a .460 Weatherby, both inherited from my Granddad. I fired the .460 once about 25 years ago and got a mildly detached retina, no thanks. The .470 should be more mild but I am hoarding my Kynoch ammo for it and haven’t shot...

Good job! I LOVE H&Rs. I grew up 20 miles from the factory and, at 4 years old, a 999 was the first handgun I ever held and shot. I inherited two 999s from the 30s and 40s and I will never ever let them go. Yours is GREAT!
