I have found a 51 Navy. It appears to have a silver plated frame (I'd guess nickle but the ones I've seen are different). Does anyone know anything about these guns?
Your help is appreciated.

I can quit this any time I want- Really! I didn't buy this gun I just traded a shiny gun for a rusty one?? I call this a modern colonial with a Kentucky accent. What say you?
I got this rusty old thing checked out and it goes off real well.
I'm having a little trouble patterning it.

I haven't been talking much. I've been thinking. I finally figured out what GOTC can get his sister for Christmas.

Range Report to follow soon.
I have adopted a homeless 50 cal Muzzle Loading Armory Plainsman. It has very few markings on the barrel. That it is Spanish, the above maker and model, a Black Powder Only warning, and some proof marks and that is it. It has a double set trigger and sights which are similar to TC BP rifles...
I have not been on this thread for awhile. I have a Marlin 1894 in 25-20. I am reloading for it. I am putting 20 gr (by weight) Goex fffg black powder under a 75 gr JFP. I am also loading 11 gr 4198 under the same bullet.
Does anyone else load this cartridge?
What are your favorite...

To my eye it's kinda like a Model 94 Winchester that...
I have a .32 Crockett which I have sighted in and accurized with PRB and a .32 Traditions Deerhunter which I have shortened the barrel on to 15". Recently I got comped some .32 conicals which I liked real well. I ordered 250 of the little 100 grain beauties.
I had done some shooting with the...
Question #1:
Das, for the 1861 do you think it would be better to use rub on or spray on True Oil on the grips?
Question #2:
The reason that I wanted to horizontally file the hammer was so that the sights would more easily line up with the correct (deepest) aiming position of the newly...
I have been having problems with my Uberti Walker. It is a Navy arms Uberti. While shooting the gun at the range I began having problems getting it to cock. I thought it was due to fouling. If I place clockwise pressure on the cylinder it will cock and rotate just fine. When I try to cock it...
Well I finally picked up a BP double.
Now I have the longest week in my life waiting for the brown truck to show up. I was looking at several guns. You guys twisted my arm and I went with the double.
The seven pound weight ought to keep me from overloading it.

...in the center of the 3 shot .405 group.
At this point I drop back to 50 gr and try the Plains Pistol and the Walker at 50 yds. My accuracy is **** so I quit. After shooting the 405 gr. load the 50 gr load with the PRB feels like a .38 special!
The fourth picture shows a penny, a 300 gr .44...
I got a .54 TC Hawken flintlock today. At first I thought I got a great deal (new .50s are priced at $600-700). Then I saw on the internet that they are tons of them for $250 - 350. I still beat the best deal I saw by $75 so I'm happy with the price.
I think what I have is an older gun. It has...
I decided to determine the most accurate load for my Traditions Crocket .32. I decided on a six target test, a three shot group for loads ranging from 10 gr to 35 grains. All variables of the test were kept equal except the powder charge.
The original or controlled test involved varying only...
I hate this BP shooting sport. Yesterday a .45 Pennsylvania followed me home. This poor gun has been abused. It was locked in a closet for 25-30 years! I have been petting it and talking to it for two days. It seems to be recovering from its traumatic experience well.
It is very similar to a...
I have a chance to pick up a Damascus twist BP shotgun. It is beautiful and worth the price that they are asking just as a wall hanger. I am considering a rebuilding project to return it to firing form. Does anyone know a good BP smith who would consult or undertake a project like this...
