RedLion,
You are not kidding about VEISHEA Weekend. It has been a few years since I have been to one, but the last time I went there appeared to be almost 1 cop per 5 people...and there were over 20000 people there! You couldn't spit on the sidewalk without getting a lecture from a PO...
I live in Iowa,
And I don't like the travel requirements either. Believe it or not, the agency that nabs the most on gun charges is DNR (people hunting from the road or in their trucks).
I would recommend that you have no loaded magazines next to the gun or visible in the trunk. They...
Shtf?
Was it Monkeyleg that had the Squirrel in the Furnance thread? I almost peed my pants on that one...:p
Here it is!!

All,
Thank you for inputs everyone. I am going to be looking for Martini Henry (non-Kyber pass) or a french bolt action.
Soldiers are buying the crappiest weapons here, thinking they are gold...but looking at them, stocks chipped, barrels corroded, rust everywhere. It makes you...
I am currently stationed in Afghanistan and I just found out they have a quirky rule for the military over here. Seems we can purchase and ship home rifles manufactured before 1898. Now remember that this country has been at the crossroads of wars for, oh, 2000 years. I have seem british...
Duck_god,
Ya might want to check out www.iowacarry.org. They have members all over the state and some outside it (like my displaced carcass :p). they have organized shootas and even a crab boil coming up is Oskaloosa I think. Check it out.

I just got back from a small but decent gun show here in fort smith. Even after I vowed never to return, the commercials brought me in out of morbid curiosity. And lo and behold! there were guns!!! lots of them! only a two big tables of knives and one of holsters and leather works. I was...
RC means Regular Carbine, (AFAIK). I remember seeing the listings of what each were on the marlin site, or maybe the brownells site...
RC is now just C in the Marlin books...

Well, went to the range to shoot this rifle today, and let me tell you...it was fun!:D
Ran 40 rounds through it, and it functioned like a dream. Kick was not bad either. I tried to get this young kid to shoot it, but he wanted to stick to his 22 he was shooting with his dad..:p
Very...
I just picked up a Marlin 336RC 30-30, built in 1950, original finish and a mint barrel. No rust, and the finish was about 90-95%. Nice crisp trigger, and chamber looks clean and well maintained. Stocks look good and no cracks and (I think) original
Picked it up in a pawn shop for $175...
Musher,
That is too da** funny...:D
All I know is that they would have arrested me for assault if one of them tried to take my LEGALLY purchased firearm from me. :fire:
ATF should be a convience store, not a government agency.

When I went through ROTC Back in the mid 90's in Iowa (People's Republic of Johnson County), we were forced to move from the park in the middle of the city to one at the edge of town. People called and complained about "guys in fatigues running around with weapons" in the park.
I still...
I think you are talking about Alduro his "So there I was" posts
Just do a search for Alduro's posts...

I saw this show and was thinking the same thing. The duffi just replaced the lock on the 20' milvan they were storing the stuff in after it was broken into. no extra lighting, locks, or any other preventive measures were taken. (and all it takes is some bolt cutters to get through most locks...
Army regs do not allow you to take over private arms to Europe. I had to leave mine in a locked cabinet at my mother's house, after I doused them in rust preventative and wrapped them up.
Brother still took one out and shot it and replaced it without cleaning it. Never again will that...
I read the same story, but mine had a final blurb in it that was cut out of yours.

See how the tone changes when you actually include the full story...
Bias? NAAAHH!!:scrutiny:
