So what do you think would have changed to sporterize it? Barrel cut down? Was it originally a flintlock? Would the marks on the stock be from the gunmaker or something different? Any place to look those up?
Thanks!
My FIL brought over this rifle a friend of his had laying around. It only has the marking on the stock as seen in the picture although we didn't take it apart. Has a little lever on the right side of the forearm that you press and the fore end slides off. Really big percussion cap on it. It...
My concern, settng aside exactly what the scope of the NRA’s activities should be, is can they effectively counter multiple organizations that have become increasingly well-funded and organized in recent years? Infighting and distractions lesson that ability IMO. Sometimes you just need to...
My thoughts as well. The opposition is more funded and organized than ever. The NRA comes off as unsophisticated both from a PR standpoint and an operational one. I need to see evidence that they have a strategy for the next 10 years and so far I haven’t.
Yes, both my kids (9 and 5) watched the NRA video. The older one I can explain things in more detail to, obviously, but the younger one can sing the, "Stop, Don't Touch, Runaway, Tell a Grownup" refrain. All my guns are locked up and the kids know they are dangerous. Both have seen them, my...
Yeah, I can't see how your attitude is doing anything to help our cause. It's supposed to be fun, period. People looking down their noses at what others do at the range or how they set up their guns, provided they are safe, is not going to encourage people to shoot.
Matthews interrupted too much as usual, but the ending was priceless (paraphrased):
Matthews: Special thanks to our guests, Wayne LaPierre, one of the best! And Paul Helmke...(awkward pause)....you were a little soft tonight, Paul...
I imagine that 90% of people with rails will never use them. You won't find me using a rail-mounted flashlight on my HD gun. The thought of pointing a gun at my sleeping daughter to check on her if I need to is somewhat less than appealing to me.
On a carry gun, the rail only serves to add...
Maybe a lapel pin instead of a tie. Is this for business? I would never wear a slogan tie for business. If it's just pleasure that's a little different.
Double Naught Spy-
Yes, you are right, the headline was sensationalized and did misrepresent what happened, but that does not give the police a free pass. They should have responded, investigated, and released the guy. Now he has his DNA on file and a mark on his record. Their actions are...
My problem with this show is that each segment that actually talks about guns or shooting is about 30 seconds long and these moronic torture tests get about 5 minutes.
