    Inexpensive O/U

This is the politest & most helpful discussion of budget O/U’s I have seen over several forums. The general advice is to avoid them. Please note the discussion of longevity. The price of the gun is the cheapest part. To date, over several shotgun forums, no one has posted a round count for any...

    1897 ammo

Hmmm? With a modern wad, does the shot even touch the barrel? Or are you thinking copper plated might not adapt to the very full choke on a 97?

    Trap gun for a beginner

Wasn’t the BT-99 discontinued? No parts?

    Compact 20 ga

How about taking her to hold different guns? Fit is where it’s at. She needs to hold it the way you do, & for women, unless you are shopping for an expressly women’s gun, that usually me usually means a youth or bantam model. If it doesn’t fit, she will have to move her weight way over, over...

New owner of a Model 42 Winchester

Thanks! Mine has a couple quirks, so this helps

    Good over/under other than a big "B"

There are several Turkish models. If you read other forums, you’ll see they are generally approved for the “one-box-per-year” crowd. If you’re not going to shoot it much & may not be too worried if both barrels shoot at the same place, you won’t find a lot of complaints. Those that shoot them...

two 70 year old winchesters shine at local trap range

These are fiberwad guns. Full with a plastic wad is “real full”

New owner of a Model 42 Winchester

Yeah! They only made about 5000 per year. My LGS had this one for $720. Mine has carry wear, just ahead of the receiver. The blueing is good. It passes all of the tests for a Model 12.

New owner of a Model 42 Winchester

It points like magic. I shoot sporting clays with it about as well as I do with a 12 gauge! Is there anything special I need to know about maintenance?

    No standard/Full size in ‘98.

    Sleeper Shotguns

It’s not new, but I am constantly impressed with Winchester M37’s. Very simple. Goes bang after 60-80 years

How much less recoil does 20ga have?

Felt recoil is a product of gun weight, velocity, and shot weight, plus a little wiggle for fit. Here is a link to a recoil calculator: http://www.omahamarian.org/trap/shotshellenergy.html do the math for your own answer.

    Winchester 1897

I need to do your project, but haven’t gotten there yet. Have you been to Marauder’s webpage? And there are at least two YouTube videos about assembly/disassembly

    Winchester 37 help needed, please.

Just outside Chicago. I paid $200 for red letter 12 gauge about 4 years ago. I held a pigtail model where they were asking $300. There is a 16 gauge in a local gun shop right now for $250. I have seen 410’s in the $300 range and held a 20 gauge, modified choke this past summer worn almost white...

    Model 12

Briley Briley claims they can put chokes in old guns so they tolerate steel.

TriStar Upland Hunter O/U or Hatsan Escort Optima D12 O/U Opinions

Elsewhere, these get very poor reviews. Like if you shoot less than a box per year, you might be okay. Those reviews cite a regular litany of objections.

Remington 870 Serial number look up

The letters are small. Maybe half the size of the R in Remington. Here is a link that shows a sample & has a calculator.
