First run on new flame annealer

I found that for "06 sized cases and smaller one torch worked just fine. These are really a lice little package. The only issue I had with mine was an occasional case would hit the torch flame and not spin on the rotating button. I took a cotton swab and applied a VERY THIN dab of high temp...

    Sierra TGK Gamechangers

I normally just run the Hoenady 140gr spire points in my 260, but I did pick up a couple boxes of the Gamechangers last summer. I got as far as shooting a small ladder and zeroed for hunting but didn't get a chance to try them out. They shoot really well on paper. The load I am using is with...

So, You Want To Start Casting…?

I have been casting for just over a decade. It is hard to put much more into this than what Bearded Phil and the others have mentioned. I will toss out a few things that are important to me. 1) Use a known alloy, I started out with a mixed batch of this, that, and the other. While I DID make...

    Beware of Vihtavuori Load Data.

SO sometimes tighter tolerances, lead bullets, tighter crimps can all influence how some powders perform. Lead bullets for example will usually get a bit lower pressure but equal velocity from a given load. Just thoughts on causes. That said, I usually always workup from the starting loads...

    30-06 powders?

About 56-57 or so grains of 4350, pick one, with 150-165gr bullets has been a stable load for me for nearly 40yrs. It just seems to work, and work well. It might not be the fastest, but it has been accurate and put plenty of meat in the freezer.

    Terminal performance comparison

Yeah, ya gotta be careful about that. Usually when I "recycle" the ones recovered at the range berms, and outta the pasture, I put a sizable wad of them in my smelting pot all by themselves. Then bring the heat up nice and slow so it gives ample time for any moisture to expand and evaporate...

    Terminal performance comparison

So I will play along with my little bit of who do voodoo.. When I began casting my initial bullets were the wide flat nose type, mainly for my magnum revolvers. All was right with the world right up until I discovered MOE and MP molds. Ok so a few other things contributed as well. It was...

    Light 45 Colt loads

Might look into something similar to this, .45 Express-Grooveless Since your looking for something lightly loaded you could roll crimp right over shoulder. Or maybe something like these, 45 cal 225gr Hollow Point LSWC These aren't 200gr but then again your gonna have a cavernous case there...

Zen and the art of reloading

WEll I would say that hand loading IS VERY therapeutic, in fact old the oldest grandson that yesterday. My problem is, I got to a point I have more than enough loaded up, most if not all is hunting ammo tailored to specific rifles or handguns, some using bullets on the expensive side, some using...

    Powder prices

I can probably get buy on what little selection I have on hand. I about choked on my coffee the other morning when I saw what SW Precision Rifle was going for. I had second and third thoughts about getting an 8# at just over $250, now, AIN'T no way. I would b very tempted to throw down on an 8...

    360 BuckHammer first loads...

It is a Henry, the one on the left. Since that pic I've added the same Leupold Freedom 1.5x20 with MOA as is mounted on the 44 to the right. We found that at the ranges we're actually going to use them at this is fast and functional.

I'm leaning on 22.5, bottom right.

    360 BuckHammer first loads...

So, as previously mentioned, I purchased the MP .359-220 WNFP HP mold. I poured up a hundred or so of both the solid (225gr) and the HP (220gr) using the same alloy I use for my magnum handgun bullets. I've debated one powder or the other for a good while now but finally jumped in with...

    Teaching my Son to Reload

I've got a 41yr old daughter, and three grandsons between 15 and 22. They can all set up the press, measure cases before and after loading and trim if necessary. All are accomplished hunter's of deer, hogs, and small game. It just runs in the family from my pop on through. He started me off...

Should I lube before sizing these?

/\ /\ This.. I use a version of Alox called 45-45-10 on my Lee 452-300 bullets in my 454 hunting loads. After loading, I sit with the box in my lap listening to jams and wipe them off before putting them in the storage box. None of that on the noses matters to the barrel but it will get dust...

    Coated bullets and revolvers

Like Derek45, I'm loading for 30 Carbine, 357s, 10mm, 41,44, and 454. I load most to between 1300fps up to 1600fps and have no issues staying in the crimp groove. As long as they fit well they will shoot well.

    Western reloading supplies

Hey don't knock my car parts and general supply store. Actually know of a NAPA that changed hands and names and DOES sell some of our stuff in one corner amongst all the other general car parts and such.

NOE Cast Bullets in Henry .44 Mag Rifles

Best as I can square up on them right at .415", and the Lee is right at .310". So there is a bit of difference.

NOE Cast Bullets in Henry .44 Mag Rifles

Other than the copper smear on the load gate it is still pretty new. Probably doesn't have 75rds through it yet, but does have a buck and hog to it's credit. Like I mentioned above I initially wanted to run cast through it, but haven't found anything but the Lee bullet that will function...
