I'm trying to help a friend of mine out; can anyone advise me of some good 'coffee table' books that feature engraved firearms or websites that have picture collections of engraved firearms?
I was reading the thread from marinepilot about his situation in North Carolina where he's being asked to provide 'proof' of having a good moral character. Interesting to me because New Jersey has such a standard and I am so glad that I left. But I'm also thinking, what if the Heller decision...
Doc, funny you brought that up. New Jersey also suspended 4 kids for playing 'cops and robbers' back in 2000. The kids were using their fingers as 'guns'. Zero tolerance at work.
I keep at least 4 magazines for each gun. 1 loaded and charged, two loaded as spare, and one empty that I use for the range. For a couple of weapons, I found good deals and actually have more than 4 magazines that are usually kept empty.
As said, depends on your locale. I wonder if you're the same guy that posted on TexasCHLForum. At any rate, in Texas, you can basically carry on your property or whatever is attached to your property. So your balcony, an attached garage, etc. You would need a CHL in order to carry on any common...
I came close recently. Went to a local restuarant and put in a to-go order. I've been going there for a while so I'm pretty friendly with the staff and we kibbitz when it's not too busy. So one of the cooks comes out and we're talking just general smack. While I'm talking to him, a co-worker of...
Actually, I've done the opposite. I woke up late and groggy one morning, basically got dressed and dried off at the same time and then strapped up. Wife looks at me as I'm rushing to the door and trying to stuff laptop cords and lan cables in my bag, "Ummm, where are you going with that?" Job...
I wouldn't say what you did was dumb, just an embarassing oversight. Hopefully you've learned and retrained yourself on a few things:
- Always double-check your carry rig
- Rechargable batteries are your friend
- Halo 3 is great, but will still be there no matter when you get home...
I've always felt that every relationship is different, because people are different. My father has a very 'Alpha-Male' type relationship where his word is law. My grandfather has a more diplomatic approach which I share; decisions are not unilaterly made but differing opinions that are...
Depends on my mood, the day of the week, what I got going on for the rest of the day. I like to clean my guns immediately after a range visit, so that heavily factors into it; don't want to sit around to clean 2 or 3 guns if I have a bunch of errands to run and am going out later. I'd say on...
Nah, I noticied this in my class. There were a few people that were preparing for their CCWs/CHLs/LTCs/whatever it is in your state and didn't own a firearm. It can be a tough decision for some and I think the ranges accomodate by having 'test fire' weapons available that can also be used for...
I've only had it once. The usual gunstore I go to is pretty good when it comes to safety; maybe this was an off night. Was persuing a Springfield XD45 and the gent wanted to show me how versatile it was to carry. So in between OWB, IWB, 'mexican carry', etc., he swept me a few times. I guess...
Actually, a few people have hit upon what the unifying political definition of an assault weapon is: A weapon that is seemingly designed, originally or via after-market upgrades, to make the killing of a human more efficient and seemingly not productive to "sporting purposes". I've noticed that...
Because my <insert gun here> doesn't shoot like the <insert new gun here>
Usually there are no excuses, it's just simply, "Because I can and because I want to"
Being in Texas, I love the general attitude towards firearms. There are more transplants moving in by the day, but by far, most people seem to be gun friendly or at least neutral. Contrast this with New Jersey where even the most non-realistic toy guns gave parents heartburn.
I do wish there...
Actually, if you reference my original post, my original intention was to understand what to look for and hear anecdotal stories from anyone who has faced a similar situation. I'm confident in my integrity and don't require validation.
