I used to love to come to this forum to read about hunting stories and share my own experiences....but now...there are only a few articles..Why is that?
If you have a T/C Contender you are probably aware of how large the stock is due to the raised cheek rest on most of the rifle stocks.
Has anyone found a good leather shell holder that fits it? Or possibly another good option.
I have the cheap black elastic one, and I lost a few rounds...
Well....just looking at the forecast for opening day here in OK. It looks like we are in for some rain.
I will probably hunt in a tent if its raining.
I saw some statistics about how fewer deer are taken in the rain...but I would attribute that to fewer hunters.
What is your opinion on...
This year, I am going to try and make 3 or 4 small deer blinds.
I don't really want to shell out for more tents...and I have 8 or 9 different spots to hunt from. I will set up a few tents...and I have a few ladder stands...but I have a few spots that I tend to frequent that could just use...
So I am new to archery. I bought a bow...just got the 60 lb...I am not Rambo so no need to get a 70 lb...anyways...The pro shop set me up and they had my bow turned all the way down. But I have been shooting and it is very easy, so I turned my bow up some. I figure I am running around 56...
Well...Ahoy mates. Today be International Talk Like a Pirate Day!
In the spirit of this great and treasured day, do any of ye good fellas care to discuss the guns of the pirate age?
Yarr!
I am wanting to do some hunting out in the Ouachita National Forest. This place has bear.
I was thinking about what I would do if I were to get a deer. and lets just say I was several miles out and got one in the evening and the weather was cool enough.
I was thinking that I might find a...
I am thinking about a pistol set up for deer hunting.
At the moment, I am thinking a Contender in 7-30 Waters on a Super 14" barrel. I am wondering how the is kick and what is the effective range. Anyone with experience on this?
Got any other suggestions?
It's about that time of year. Time to check on the stands, clean up the trails, look for rubs, plant that food plot. Anyone else getting prepared for deer season? I got a new tree stand put together in the garage. Can't wait to figure out where it will go.
What is the difference between the "AR" scopes and traditional scopes. A few of the properties I have notices are.
1. Size....AR scopes are more compact.
2. BDC recitals are usually based on .223
but are there other differences, like eye relief or light gathering capabilities?
Does anyone know anything about hunting in the Ouchita National Forest on the Oklahoma side?
I am trying to find a place that I can backpack in...hunt for the day...then pack out.
I am looking for a good 30/30 hand load recipe for deer hunting. Any suggestions as to where to start?
My plan is to build a contender rifle in 30/30. I don't have my barrel yet. I will probably go with a custom barrel because I would like to get one shorter than 23". But it just depends...
I have been wanting to put a backpacking/hunting trip together to head out to a National Forrest. I am wanting to pack in a small game and medium game firearm and have recently fell in love/obsession with the contender. What I was thinking, was get a 22LR match barrel and a 6.8 barrel. But...
So my birthday money burned a hole through my pocket and I picked up an over/under shotgun......
So I will be looking at getting a clay pigeon thrower....probably manual one. I will get to shoot at the in-laws every few months..
I also might start checking out the local ranges too.
I...
I have been doing more outdoor shooting on private land as of late. I have picked up a couple of the steel swinger style targets. They are fun and we enjoy them.
But I was thinking that I would like to find some cheap fun stuff to shoot.
We tend to mostly plink with .22 But I also...
I am considering picking up a Marlin 1894c in 357 mag. I reload for this for my GP100 already, and was thinking I would like a lever rifle so I could share ammo and do some plinking and whatnot. But I also have 3 children, one of whom is about ready to start deer hunting. I was thinking that...
I was carrying my fanny pack this weekend with all my black powder tools, and other stuff and what not....and it got a little heavy and started falling down a lot. So I am thinking that I want to upgrade to a small back pack for hunting. Something small enough to just carry some essentials...
Oklahoma just passed a law that allows us to hunt with suppressors.
I tried to look around to see if there were any suppressors in hunting rounds like .270 or .243 and couldn't really find anything.
I was king of thinking that maybe with this type of change in legislation that we might...
I recently stumbled across a new product....well new to me. It's called a "Ghostblind" ...check out www.ghostblind.com or try youtube..there are a bunch of videos.
Well...it certainly would work on humans...that thing will hide you anywhere.
But what about deer.....I know they see...
