My sons have a Marlin 925 that is super accurate. However, I have not been able to locate a bore guide for a 925. Does anyone have any ideas on where I could find one? I would even adapt another bore guide to fit the Marlin if any of you have any ideas about that.
I had a Savage Scout that broke the bolt head retaining pin. You have no idea what a pain that was to deal with. But I got a Savage Axis on clearance. .308 in a wood stock. As much as I want to not like that rifle, it shoots like a house on fire. I put a Leupold scope on it with a good...
I, too, love the .38 Special! However, I like the heavy barrels. I cast bullets and run scads of 148 gr. soup cans through my revolvers. If you are interested in getting into bullet casting, .38's are a great place to learn. I started casting for my .41 and my .38 and have never looked back.
The title pretty much says it all. I would like a 10/22 take down for squirrel hunting, but was curious as to whether it held zero to minute of squirrel when dissassembled and reassembled.
35 Whelen, what exactly are you relieving and polishing on the cartridge stop? The underside of it as it is sitting in the gun, or the part facing the mag tube?
I appreciate the input, but let me give a little more background. I am slowly becoming a bullet caster, and would ideally like to have a .41 magnum lever gun, (that I want to run suppressed, by the way), but the only real option for that right now is the Henry, which is tube fed and not a good...
I am thinking hard about a Rossi R92 in .44 magnum for deer hunting. However, I want to use cast bullets. Have any of you guys that have one of these shot semi wadcutters or Keith bullets out of your rifle. I do not want to use jacketed bullets, but want to use bullets that I cast. I want to...
Thank you to all of you that have given me some input on this. I have other rifles, and yes, I really want a lever gun. Thinking about a .44 and suppressing it for a shorter range deer rifle.
I am not wanting a tactical lever gun, I am looking for the most bomb proof design that I can have. The guy I was referencing was talking about it from the space of having seen many, many lever guns operated in classes. And some of them were prone to certain failures. I really wish that I could...
I remember listening to a Primary and Secondary Modcast sometime in the past that had a guy on it that did tactical lever gun classes, and I am not even sure who it was anymore. I went back and searched the Modcast list but was not sure which one it was on. This guy discussed what he...
I have always suspected my situation was a one off. Also, the ammo was not by any stretch high pressure. It was .308 ammo loaded to service rifle specs.
I know that the Savage bolt guns like the 110 and even the Axis are very accurate. I understand that the floating bolt head is likely one of the reasons for this. However, I simply do not trust the Savage bolt guns and I really want to like and to trust them. A few years back I had a Savage...
I used to be a hard core duck hunter. The Browning A5 is a classic old school duck slayer. I found a Japanese produced 12 gauge A5 with synthetic stocks and choke tubes. I bought it one summer and could not wait for season. Season got here and I carried it the entire season. It was stone cold...
