I have no idea what modification does to the warranty, it's never crossed my mind. Although my smith warranties his work so for me & mine it's not an issue. It is stainless, the one in my avatar. If you want to engrave one, I say go. There is a lot of canvass there so it can get expensive.

+1 on the BFR, I have a BFR in 500S&W 10" barrel, it's whopper. Had a Briley muzzle break installed and now the felt recoil is about what my .44 Redhawk was.
