Is 5 or 6 really enough in today's world.

Couple thoughts from a Canadian, who has carried for much different reasons. I carried professionally for a long time as a bush pilot & outfitter, working a 1.3 million acre territory an hour air time south of the Alaska border. Our concern in Canada is never violent crime, that’s rather a...

My Last Handgun, what I chose when Canada shut down civilian handgun ownership.

Exciting little twist for me, found a brand new old stock S&W 48-4 .22 Mag cylinder for the 17-4. Will slug it next and see what Smith was putting on the 17-4 for bore size. Always liked the .22 Mag and nice to have the option.

Good eye ;) I’m into the oddballs, though I’m trying to kick the habit. .318, .577, .375 Flanged. The .318 sits as a project still, I do a fair bit of gunsmithing in the the winter here, and have a .318 Lothar Walther blank and an Oberndorf Sporter sitting together. Even found the reamer...

Sure does, that’s the PZL Wilga 2000. Best bush plane I’ve flown, currently run a 185F. It doesn’t perform as well, but much easier to support and faster in cruise.

Range only for a .22 like this, you can carry for work in Canada with an ATC (Authorization to Carry) which is how I carried the Glock. ATC is common in bush professions like mine.

    S&W 17-4 K22, Date Help?

Anyone have the S&W book handy and able to help me learn the year of my 17-4? I understand it’s 1977-1988 vintage, and I believe she’s mid 80s. Would be very grateful for any help gleaning a ship date from Smith, the serial is AEY20XX.

They went up, but not extraordinarily, Covid could have been equally to blame. I paid the equivalent of $900US before ship, it would probably have been $750 in 2020. You can still export, in fact I just exported a Colt Bisley .44 Russian to the states for auction right before Christmas, that...

I’ll take some photos soon as I give her a good cleaning, the previous owner clearly enjoyed shooting her more than cleaning her, and fair enough with a .22. And in the states you definitely enjoy firearm freedoms we don’t, but I want to take the chance to nip in the bud the politics talk as I...

My Last Handgun, what I chose when Canada shut down civilian handgun ownership.

I hadn’t made a video in eight or nine years, decided I should probably do one for this occasion as it’s the last time I’ll open a box from the mail containing a handgun in my country. Hope you enjoy, and thought some might be curious what I chose as the last one and why.

Be an excellent candidate, your Argentine. The 1/2 octagon, integral rib barrel is an original Oberndorf .30-06 sporting rifle barrel rebored to .375. They’re worth a mint even shot out, as guys like me seek them out for rebores. To make an equivalent barrel profile from a new blank you’re...

Varies, no set rule, that one’s off a pantograph, finished and inletted by hand. The Hagn for instance was fully by hand, well belt sander for shaping as I’d never stocked that frame size of Hagn. If I want to do something new you start with a blank, band saw, and belt sander. If you’re...
