Is a handgun enough for home defense?

Everything I've absorbed about HD on this site and others( that makes it right, right ?) advises against "clearing" your home when you hear a bump in the night. So, if you barricade yourself in a safe, defensible room, call the police, and make sure using your weapon is your last option, a 1911...

    Handgun with low-bore axis??

HK P7 has a very low bore axis. So, for me it's recoil is VERY manageable and it returns to it's initial point of aim nicely. Heck, it doesn't stray from it's initial point of aim that much because of the low bore axis.

Why does the H&K P7 have such a strong following?

Fer me, it's kind of like deciding whether to marry a woman. I find the p7 attractive to look at, a bit exotic even. Most importantly, can I accept it, just as it is right now with all of it's assets and shortcomings? I can, and own 2 p7s. Putting logic aside, I just love the gun. I fell hard...

Which gun makes you feel like you own perfection?

My Sig 226 I bought in 1995. Still can't believe how silky smooth that piece is, and I love how it looks to boot.

    Reconsidering a 1911 (again)

I know how it is with a "gunbug" knocking around in your head wbwanzer! I own Colts and love them. Haven't shot anything else in .45 though. I read on forums here that people are really fond of the SA pistols, as well as Kimbers. I reckon there's a lot of tweaking you can do to a pistol that's...

The next purchase? It's my B-day soon. :0)

The SIG may look a bit off with all the mods to it(which I happen to like!), but having shot a Blackwater I can say it was amazingly smooth shooting and well balanced. So, that'd be my #1 pick. The five-7 is really fun to shoot too, and super light. The ammo price may be prohibitive though. Good...

    CCW question about gun...

On the advice of my friend teaching the class, I qualified with each pistol there was/is a possibility of carrying. My friend's reasoning was that I needed to have documented proficiency with them. If,heaven forbid I used a weapon I did not qualify on, the persecution could argue that I lacked...

    When did it all start.

Heck, I carry just 'cause I'm just bitter and cling to my guns and my Bible! Also, it has been a gradual process for me, tempered with paranoia(healthy, I think), self preservation and common sense. Bad people find good people. The police( God bless you ALL!) show up mostly after the bad...

What is the last gun that you bought?

That would be my second HK P7 PSP. Yup, I a little nuts. Teehee!

Need Your Body Figure Dimensions for You CCW'ers.

6'0" 185lbs if I've been behaving 32"-33" waist which puts me in 34"-36" pants. Carried both a Colt LTW Commander and a 5" gov't using Liger gun belt(which I really like) and a Crossbreed Supertuck. Am now carrying the Cdr in a Milt Sparks Summer Special 2. Honestly, I almost think the...

    What's the ultimate Carry handgun

My lightweight Commander in a Crossbreed works pretty darn well. I may change that opinion when I get my Milt Sparks VM2 for my P7 sometime in the next century though. Whatever you get, make it more "ultimate" by practicing with it. Not only shooting it, but drawing it from your holster of...

Are HK pistols worth the money?

To be completely honest, all 3 of my H&Ks I bought used. Two PSP7s, and my first pistol, the much maligned VP-70. One PSP I haven't fired, it's my safe queen. I have complete faith in the other two as I've never had a failure with either. At a recent range visit, I fired a friend's USP .45. Now...

    Most reliable 9mm carry pistol?

Although it might be a tad biggish( depending on your size) for carry, I'll throw in with the rest for a Sig p226. Bought mine in '95, and it has been [I]flawless[I]. My Hk p7 psp that I got in October is running like a champ also. Good luck!

Load Mags With an Inert Round or Snap Cap?

I got snap caps origionally as cheap protection for my 1911 when dry firing while practicing "Slow is smooth, smooth is fast" drills drawing from my holster at home. Now I always put them in my mags @ the range to do T.R.B drills with, because I read on THR here, "you don't rise to the occasion...

If I was there, what could've been legally done?

Thanks all for your input. Yeah, I'll have to pester some friends who should know about what I may have been able to do. They can be hard to track down sometimes, so I thougt I'd ask y'all. And yes, in this scen scenario, I was hypothetically in the store when this crap went down. Thankfully, I...

If I was there, what could've been legally done?

The duty to retreat was presented to me thusly: if I was walking down the street and I guy walks towards me with a pipe/knife/weapon I've got to try to tell them to back off and leave me alone and try to escape and call the police somewhere in there too. If I cannot do these things because of...

If I was there, what could've been legally done?

Thanks Turbobuddha. That's some good information on where to start. Compared to KS, it seems like MN sheepdogs may be dissuaded from doing much to help others out. What was cool was that the pawn shop owner offered a $1000 reward for info on the perps. He said it was like the crime took place in...

If I was there, what could've been legally done?

First off, I hope this is the right place for this question. If not, I apologize. This is in reference to a shooting at a pawn shop that took place in Richfield, Minnesota last week. Two men walked in, one was dressed in a security guard uniform. Both drew weapons on the worker and proceeded to...

Which Gun Feels Like It Was Made For Your Hands ?

Out of my small stable, it's my Sig226. It feels like it's custom made for my hand, even though it's completely stock. My Colts are next.

    P7 reports and crit anyone?

I agree with the previous posters about the p7's accuracy and unique manual of arms. All that means is practice and more practice with it. Finding holsters and magazines are another consideration when purchasing. They take a bit more work to track down, but not much. It's worth it though for me...
