    Rogers and Spencer's revolvers

In my humble opinion, this is the most sophisticated cap & ball revolver of that era - it has it's drawbacks, yes, like lacking safety notches, or looking (kind of) ugly, but it's an engineering marvel nonetheless. P.S. Just shoot 'em!

    Why?

Old model (original) Pythons had a mechanism that was supposed to be (it was designed to be in a sort of way) hand fitted even by today's machining standards, which actually are not that different than 70 years ago. CNC is not a panacea for keeping close tolerances, but just spares you a lot...

    Why?

Because those are two rather different revolvers mechanically and the older (original) Python still commands a good price for several reasons. Reasons like great craftsmanship, finish, collectability and even nostalgia - it's a gun, not an iPhone...

    FN High Power DOB?

    FN high power

Part of the charm with the Hi-Power, apart from the great ergonomics, is how slim and compact it is for a full sized double stacked pistol in 9mm Luger, but that came with a price... Price, that some of you are obviously not willing to pay, so a newer, stronger and beefier model was introduced...

busted kitchen knife blades???? what to do...

Been there, done that - my home country was under communist rule for 45 years, so I know what poverty looks like from first hand experience.

busted kitchen knife blades???? what to do...

In every corner of the world ladies abuse kitchen knives... Just toss them in the garbage bin and buy new ones. Which also will be abused... For instance, my "better half" thinks that a good paring knife must also serve as a screwdriver, pry bar and a small hatchet, so she only gets cheap...

Help translate foreign inscription on stock.

Just saw this thread... The inscription is in Serbian - although a Slavic language, I'm not very good at it, so the center line is a mystery to me. The sign in oval says "В рукама Мандушића Вука / свакоjа е пушка убоита" which translates to: "In the hands of Vuk Mandusic every rifle is...

    S&W K22 Masterpiece maintenance

There is nothing wrong with taking a revolver sideplate off, if done properly with the right tools, but is it really needed in most cases? First, flush it good with brake cleaner (grips removed, of course!) followed with scrubbing and light, but adequate lubrication. Only if the problem...

Ruger LCP Max locking back before mag is empty

What Tinman said. Anyway, you should stick with FMJ, as lack of adequate penetration should be your main concern with that cartridge.

What? You have to clean them?

When a friend of mine bought a well used Haemmerli 214 (a target pistol in .22 LR), he said to me one day: "Thank God I found a manual for that pistol - otherwise I never would have guessed that there's a trigger adjustment screw underneath all that filth!". He also hates cleaning guns...

    Astigmatism and red dots

I might sound quite rude and uneducated for some, but if red dots are giving you so much trouble, why not just use the irons instead? At least they are working (if they are in a proper configuration)...

Recently picked up 2 pocket pistols, opinions needed.

It all depends on the condition and the history behind it, but both revolvers are in no way historical pieces, so who cares... I say go for it - nothing beats up a well done bluing job.

Why no modern 9x25 Mauser Type Cartridge for Auto's?

I don't know from where Wikipedia got that 51 500 psi maximum pressure (maximum of what, exactly?), but the only official comparable pressure data is found from CIP, as SAAMI does not list 9x25 at all. Here bellow is a link to the CIP site - at the far right of the table in the link are listed...

    Double double stack magazines anyone?

Although the magazine design looks goofy it actually works rather well. They don't last as much as a single stack magazine (but they do last a considerable amount of rounds) and finding springs for them is quite hard - the russians prefer to sell you a complete magazine at the according price...

    Camping/woods knife

Sure, if one cannot sharpen a knife freehand and needs all the help he can get to maintain the angle... For me personally it's a major PITA, because I have to grind away large amounts of steel, compared to a "regular" blade, but I know how to use a sharpening stone. Don't get me wrong - I love...

I has a curiosity about Tung oil

I would try careful sanding (mind those edges!) followed with even more careful rubbing with acetone, as it tends to crack the wood if heavily applied - like a make-up removal pad soaked with acetone, but not dripping. BTW, as I understand it, Minwax Tung Oil is nothing more than a type of...

    German “pot metal” revolvers

Rohm makes some pretty decent drill and lathe chucks, but I cannot say the same about their revolvers. Weihrauch makes some pretty decent air rifles, but I cannot say the same about their revolvers.
