    CCW Suggestions

The FNX-9 looks great to me, in my price range and has the main features I want (namely decocker). Do you (or anybody else) have personal experience with it? My brother just got an FNS-9, that thing fit me like a glove when I held it but I didn't have the chance to shoot it, are the FNS and...

    CCW Suggestions

Hello, I am nearing my CCP and still toying with which guy I would like to get. This will be my first pistol, I have a few rifles and a shotgun, but I have some experience shooting pistols. I really like the way that 1911's shoot, however I'm not sure concealing will be so easy, plus most are...

Remington 870 with Glock Safe Action? Good / bad idea?

I voted "Not possible" Based on my limited knowledge, the glock safe action trigger is based on a striker-fired design-the striker rests at half-cock, and the action of pulling the trigger brings the striker the rest of the way back and releases it. Unless remington was going to make a...

    First deer with my AK-47

    Stinky guns.

Exactly my feelings on the matter. One morning, while filling up my car with gas on the way to the woods, I spilled some all over my hands and instinctively wiped it off on my pants and jacket. Even someone with a sinus infection could've smelled me from a ways off. However despite this I...

    Hunting ear protection?

I just wear a pair of your typical John Deere-style hearing protectors (intended for power equipment, but they work all the same) and slip 'em over my ears as soon as I have the target in sight. I have yet to wear a pair of electronic hearing protectors that are as good as my ears.

What's the worst shotgun you've ever owned...

mossberg 930. Maybe I got a lemon but that durn thing would only shoot birdshot and only worked with an 18" barrel

The one question we're all asked

Does it have to be a gun we already own? If so I'll take my Henry .22 If not, my dream rifle is an M1a.

Some people ruin it for everyone....

Hear Hear. It is the hunters responsibility to give his or her game a clean and ethical kill, or no kill at all. Sometimes "one shot one kill" isn't really attainable, but in that instance, it better be darn near that.

    M4 Feed Ramps?

I strongly recommend m4 ramps. while the difference in reliability is insignificant for most users (myself included), the real benefit comes when purchasing replacement barrels. It's much easier to find barrels with M4 feed ramps as opposed to no ramps at all.

    BVAC Ammo

Haven't heard anything bad about them...OTOH haven't heard great things. From what I gather it makes good plinking/ SHTF ammo but its no match-winner.

    Mauser good historical gun

There is a difference between a "good rifle" and a "good combat weapon." While there is much overlap between the two, it is entirely possible to be one without the other. The k98 was an excellent combat wapon in its day, and remains to be a great rifle as well. However, the difference is that...

What Would Your Next Firearm Be?

IMHO, when it comes to SHTF, it's hard to beat a good Mosin-nagant. Cheap ammo, good stopping power, marginal to outstanding accuracy depending on what subtype you get, and its just darn tough Thats the next gun on my list

    223

I have yet to walk into a gun store that doesn't have .223 on the shelves (except for winter of 08-09...thanks Obama)

Heck of a trying day for a dad.

I second this. And you showed great restraint shooting a warning shot first. I might've just shot em both if I thought I was in any sort of danger. Glad that everybody is allright, hopefully the season gets better from here on out.

    silencer, would you ?

Absolutely, without hesitation. Hearing protection is no joke.

    already have a 45-70, worthwhile adding a 308?

Sounds like you don't have any need for one. In your instance, since long range shooting isn't your cup of tea, why bother paying for a gun that only serves that purpose? I'd save my money and buy more ammo for the guns you currently own if I were in your shoes. NOTE: I am not saying that...

    Maximum Effective Range of Shot

Hello folks, Just wondering what y'alls opinions are about the maximum effective range of shot (any size, just specify which one you are talking about) on small game. I'm looking to hunt coyotes with my 12 gauge this year, and, supposing a perfect pattern, what is the maximum range I could...

    Enfield vs. Mauser

I voted mauser...tougher action and it just fits my frame better. believe it or not I actually prefer the sights as well.
