Deer Hunting with a .45 ACP

Do you guys have actual boars or javelina? We get some monsters in South GA. They get even bigger in North Fla around Jacksonville. The smallest I would go on those would be a .22 magnum :) I don't like having to run up trees anymore.

Deer Hunting with a .45 ACP

What I carry usually depends on what I am after and where I am. If I am in middle GA swamps and I know there are a lot of Hogs I'll carry my .44 on my hip and a 30.06. That's stalking. If I am in a stand on my land I'll usually have my Kimber .45 in a holster and use either the 30-30 Marlin or...

Deer Hunting with a .45 ACP

That would be perfect for smaller hogs if you can get it right behind the ear. Maybe just a tad too weak for deer, but if you're confident take the shot. You've gotta find it :) I'm just sayin...

Deer Hunting with a .45 ACP

Hey ONLY are you using the Cx4 storm .40? That was my original post at the top that the .45 I am using is a "Rifle" chambered in a pistol caliber. I could go with a lighter bullet to get over 1000 FPS. Thanks

Deer Hunting with a .45 ACP

That Ruger is horrific. I actually own one and the trigger travel is about 37 minutes. By the time the pin hit's the shell the animal will had died of old age....

Deer Hunting with a .45 ACP

I believe Ga is "Any center fire cartridge" which the Beretta would meet that criteria. I'll have to check for sure, but don't think it's a legal issue. Thanks BTW!

Deer Hunting with a .45 ACP

I have a Beretta Cx4 Storm .45 ACP and it's extremely accurate at 100 yards with the standard iron sights. I was thinking of using it for deer hunting this fall for 25-50 yard shots. I load my own 230 grain LRN as well as some .45 XTP's and think they would be fairly sufficient stopping power...

Turkey Hunting in Paulding County Ga

Has anyone ever done Turkey Hunting at the Paulding Line Forest (DNR WMA)? I am thinking about going this weekend, but wanted to see if anyone had any experience out there.

Hog Hunting 320 Grain .44 Magnum

Get back at it! They ain't gonna shoot themselves :) It's a rush when they come at you. Deer spook easy Hogs get pissed off. It's really self defense at that point.

Hog Hunting 320 Grain .44 Magnum

So I've been thinking... What would be the best bullet mold for a 150-300 lb hog? http://www.leeprecision.com/cgi/catalog/browse.cgi?1268660562.5135=/html/catalog/bullmol2.html I like to be able to make my own and the I am just not sure if the XTP would expand to soon on impact on a monster...

Hog Hunting 320 Grain .44 Magnum

This was in Twiggs County near Macon. I'm still looking for another place if you know any.

Hog Hunting 320 Grain .44 Magnum

That's probably exactly what happened. It went right through and just pissed him off. The spine shot rolled him no doubt :) This was in Georgia.

Hog Hunting 320 Grain .44 Magnum

Yes, this is a reloading question :) I hit a 150+ boar from about 35 yards with a .44 magnum 320 Grain CORBON Hunter load square in the front shoulder. He was stunned for about 4 seconds before charging on me and my brother hit it en route with a 180 grain 30-06 rolled it dead on a spine shot...

    Hornady .45 FTX

I am looking for the .45 ACP which isn't listed in terms of load data yet, but is on the market.

    Hornady .45 FTX

Have any of you used the .45 FTX before? I was wondering what load you used for them. My hornday and nosler manuals don't have load data for the FTX. Just curious.

    H335 in .30-06

H335 30.06 I use H335 in my 150 grain 30.06 and it's pretty good. I do think that H335 is a much better powder for .223, but it will work with the 30.06. My manual has a 180 grain bullet at 42 grains of h335 to start and not to exceed 46. That's from the Lee Modern Reloading 2nd edition. Like...

    231 for .44 Magnum

Yeah. I appreciate your opinion on my manual GreasyTool, but it, nor Hodgdon's reloading data had info on a 240 grain XTP. I thought I would check to see if any here has used that powder and bullet and what their experience was. I have been using 10.3 grains of Unique with a 240 grain JHP, which...

    231 for .44 Magnum

Have you guys used a 240 grain XTP with 231 before? I've seen some people using 8.5 grains of 231 on the XTP's but wanted to check here before testing. Thanks!! This will be for use in the Black Hawk.
