The 1911 was a great pistol in 1911. I would write more but a 1911 owner I know is installing an automatic transmission in his model T. According to him the greatest car ever made, after that installing a FLGR in his 1911 I picked up for him at a gun show.
I am a professional painter w/30yrs exp. What I use if I can not spray metal before surface rust appears is a product called Ospho. It is a phosphoric acid solution that does not harm metal. After application ,let dry and apply your Duracoat. This keeps you from chasing your tail grease/degrease...
correct me if I am wrong. The original mags for that gun were a 2 tone finish with a lanyard loop. I do not believe colt followed that little piece of originality in their repro gun to start with.

A while back I had to have a 458mag. When my wife saw it she asked what for? I told her it was used to keep Cape Bufallo away. She reponded quite agitated what Cape Bufallo? I said my point exactly.
How do they go down? What breaks? You have spiked my curiosity. Do you have facts or are these isolated personal observations? I am not trying to start anything but I am always amazed at peoples blanket condemnation of a product with limlted information. Glocks suck, Sig is not what it used to...

I know this is nitpicking but they also have a 9mm Colt...
My CCO is a Para-Ordnance P13-45. Commander length slide with double stack officers length frame. The frame with grips is only !/8 inch wider than a Colt with standard grips. Alloy frame helps keep the weight down while it carries 13 230grn Gold Dots. Nice.
