    Primer impact questions

rsrocket1 - my higher power was watching over me. Mea maxima culpa.... (for you non-altar boys out there that translates to "through my most grevious fault")

    Primer impact questions

Confession here...embarassing, stupid (and pretty damn lucky). My bad on the recipe....I did use Clays. The load data I got from Hornaday 7th Edition, p.900. 6.4 gr is listed as the max - for Clays .....UNIVERSAL. (Sigh).... Thanks RC, thanks rsrocket1 - I was sure I was correct. Read over...

    Primer impact questions

Went to the range with some .45 ACP reloads yesterday. No problems to speak of...all but one fired - 50 rounds or so. All on the paper, no flyers - other than me jerking the trigger. First picture shows 9 cases fired from my Springfield Armory 1911 Champion on the left and 19 cased fired with...

    2a obsolete?

So when the Iraqi ****es attempted to revolt in Spring '91 after we tossed Saddam out of Kuwait and were crushed - violently - does the author think them "irrational"? I still wonder today what might have transpired had we supported them...but that's a fools game. Woulda, coulda, shoulda...

BE ON THE LOOKOUT - Collectible Guns Stolen

Thanks merlinfire....not sure what happened when I copied the link. I copied your shortcut and pasted it above. Works now. earl....I have no idea why these firearms were at the armory. Its possible a gun show was scheduled for the next day and the thieves hit it knowing the inventory...

M1 Garand Markings and Other Newbie stuff

M1 Garand Data form kdave21 Found the form on my computer. This might be CMP's form - not sure. You can fill it out on your computer and save the file. Handy for when you get your second Garand..:D

M1 Garand Markings and Other Newbie stuff

Hmmmm....on second thought...I don't think any trade would be a good deal for you. I looked back at your first post and "remembered" you have a Sept 42 barrel/reciever. I don't have my books handy but I'm guessing the correct op rod might be 4 SA or 5 SA - possibly even the 6 SA you have. The...

M1 Garand Markings and Other Newbie stuff

Hey kdave21 - I'm looking for a 6 SA op rod for my Oct. 43 SA. I'll trade you a cut op rod (good for shooting) plus some other parts you might need. As the community will tell you an uncut rod is worth more than a cut one. So if its possible to put a "package" together and trade for that op...

M1 Garand Markings and Other Newbie stuff

Welcome to the "club" - be careful about addiction..:D I now have 5 Garands. I'm in the process of restoring all five. I have just about everybook. And I'm happy to answer any and all questions. You have a "6 digit" receiver - very nice. And it sounds like the barrel might be original...

    Remington Part...from what?

A friend bought a bunch of Garand parts from an estate. This was in it but its no Garand part I've ever seen. Its marked on the bottom " REM 721" I'm sure someone out there must know.

    concentricity guage: recommendations?

I have the Hornady model. Short on instructions (why is that? seems like a lot of reloading equipment is "short on instructions"...sorry, I digress). It took me awhile to get it down but I'm happy with it. It has let me know when I have a die "out of whack" for seating bullets. I have no...

    M-1 Reloading

I use 45-46 grains of H 4895, Winchester brass tho if I have some I'll use military brass (Lake City stuff I pick up from competition). I prefer CCI large rifle primers and Hornaday 150 gr FMJBT. I'm going to try some 168 gr loads next spring - Sierra or Hornaday - for 600 to 1000 yd targets...

    M-1 Reload Bullets

I'll add my "ditto" to USSR and SlamFire1. Use 'em all time. No problems with my M1's. I load them just a hair under what Hornaday lists for 150 gr FMJ. I load using H 4895 so I'm typically 45-46 grains.

FFL application - worth the hassle?

To everyone: THANK YOU for all the responses and input. Especially to dogtown tom - your replies doesn't make it seem as mysterious but I know now there are many T's to cross and I's to dot. Lots for me to consider. If I decide to continue - and I'm successful or otherwise - I'll post the...

FFL application - worth the hassle?

I'm not sure if this is the right location for this thread. Moderator - relocate it as you see fit. I'm considering applying for an FFL. I'd like to get feedback from members who've done it and passed, or failed, would never do it again, happy they did or tried, etc. What are your...

What clever little things have you "invented or discovered" that you can share?

Recycled cartridge holders I've come to believe reloaders are the ultimate recyclers. We can't throw anything away. Anyway....I'm cleaning out my ammo locker and I find some Remington .30-06 cartridge holders (Pic #1). I was about to toss them when...voila..I can use them on my bench. I...

    The 336 Club

Thanks guys. Cowart - I'll try Marlin again. 1st guy I talked to sounded very young, didn't know much, wasn't willing to talk and got all legalistic on me..."We can't be liable"... yada, yada, bark bark bark. And yes - I'll be handing it over to a gunsmith. I do a lot of things with my...
