I'm probably in the minority here, but I never could warm up to the FAL - even though I've owned five of them over the years. My favorites have been my HK91's which I've had since the early 80's. My HK's have always been more accurate than any FAL I ever had, including a Belgian heavy barrel...
In mint condition with a box they do sell for that, and more - at least on Gunbroker. I checked for sold 39A's with boxes and found the following items.
2006 used w/ box = $965 (33 bids)
2003 used w/ box = $1,725 (47 bids)
1983 used w/ box = $985 (3 bids)
1967 new in box = $1,475 (43 bids)
In the Gun Broker universe that would be a good price. A LNIB P89 recently sold there for $490 - $525 if you include shipping.

I recently purchased a like new P89DC stainless on Gun Broker for $300. It only came with one magazine...
Kentucky Gun has the Ruger 9E, the budget version of the SR9, for $289 with free shipping. I can't think of a better deal for a high quality American made 9mm pistol.

My LCP doesn't appear to have a magazine disconnect. I haven't tried shooting it without the magazine, but the hammer does fall when dry firing without a mag.
I bought the same one from Kentucky Gun on Cyber Monday for $205.35. Unfortunately by the time I paid the credit card up-charge ($6.16), insurance ($3.75), FFL transfer ($26.25), and background check ($10), I was up to $251.51. Still a great price on a gun I had been looking to buy several...
Kentucky Guns had the LCP Custom on sale yesterday for $215.99. While not $199.99, it was still a screaming deal. I was tempted to get one, but I picked up one of their Flat Dark Earth models for $205 instead.
Ares Defense makes the Ares SCR rifle mentioned in the original post. Ares Armor is not the same company and is more known for their 80% lower receivers.
Have you considered a red dot scope? I picked up a Scout a few weeks ago and decided to try it with an inexpensive TRS-25 red dot first. The nice thing about the red dot is that it only weighs 3.7 ounces - virtually unnoticeable. I've even been able to squeeze some decent 1.5" to 2" sized...
I had a Mini-30 for close to 20 years and just sold it last month. While I liked it, and it was reliable, it just didn't do anything particularly well. The accuracy was just OK. Magazines are expensive. They are known for breaking firing pins if you shoot a lot of steel cased ammo through...
I had a GP100 a long time ago and sold it as it was just too heavy and bulky for my tastes. I then proceeded to pick up several Ruger Security Sixes, which in my mind are the perfect revolvers - built like a tank but not too heavy. I also have a 3" SP101 that I really like, although it can be a...
Temptation got the best of me and I ordered two cases of the 303 on clips. They arrived today and overall I'm pleased. Out of 900 rounds, only 20 cases showed signs of tarnish. Of those, I threw away 8 of them. I also had some empty Australian 50 rd 308 bandoleers laying around and the 303...
I have several of the TLR-1's for my handguns and rifles. My favorite one though is their TLR-1 HP. I picked mine up at Midway on sale a while back for $99.
The ammo looks good. Here's a link to someone at AR15.com who just got it delivered from CTD and took some pictures.

If you do choose the Lee Classic Cast, which is what I have, I would recommend getting the standard, not breech lock, Classic Cast Press. First off, the standard press will allow you to use loading dies without the extra cost of bushings. Second, if you ever decide you want to start using...
While safe dehumidifiers work, they only protect what's in the safe. In my case, not all of my toys are in the safe. I also have reloading equipment and tools that I don't want to have rust. So, I use a small home dehumidifier instead so that everything in the room is protected. I haven't...
That is a great price on excellent ammo. I still have some of this stashed away from many years back and it is accurate, high quality, and reloadable. I just wish it was available from someone else like AIM or SGAmmo. It's very tempting though.
The best part starts at 3:07 in the video. He states that there will be a pistol version with a side folding SB15 brace. That SIG brace is making some serious inroads into the firearms world.
