    Skinner Peep Sights

i have them on my 336 and love them. off-hand i shoot as well with the skinner sights as i do with a 3-9x scope.

what sling do you use on your deer rifle?

back when i could use my 30-06 for deer, i used a 1907 leather sling. now that i dont hunt like i used to, i still prefer it for almost anything i do. that sling now lives on my M1A and i get to enjoy it regularly. i dont need a big pad to carry my rifle, but the ability to sling up is a big...

    New and confused

if i have a manual that matches the manufacturer of the bullet im using, i just use that manual. if not. i'll figure the average of starting loads from what sources i have and work my way up to my desired level.

Optimal 5.56 AR Pistol Barrel Length

i went with 10.5" because i wanted a fixed FSB and a carbine length handgaurd is the shortest that i am comfortable with. mine is a PSA upper that i am using it with a carbine buffer and carbine spring and it is much smoother than i was expecting it to be. it is compact enough that it makes a...

    How many fit

these numbers are approximate, but will get you pretty close: 1200 rds of 5.56 will fit in to a 50 cal ammo can. 600rds of 5.56 will fit in to a 30cal ammo can. 1750rds of .40SW will fit in to a 50cal ammo can. 1000rds of .40SW will fit in to a 30cal ammo can. 140rds of 12ga 2.75 will fit in to...

    EDC Fiber Optic Sights

I have dawson precision sights on my EDC (FO front, plain rear). never had an issue with them. the way i figured it, worst case scenario, if the fiber falls out then i have plain black sights which i would prefer to night sights anyway.

Are peep sights a thing of the past on a lever gun?

my 336 30-30 wears skinner sights and I wouldnt have it any other way.

I know this will WEARY you but I have a (well worn) AR question?

my recommendation is to grab either a complete rifle or an assembled upper and lower of your choosing from PSA. my last "build" used an assembled upper from them and i will definitely be going back to them for my next project. watch their daily deals to, sometimes you can get a real steal check...

...a little help with my foolish projectile purchases.

#1 - I cant offer you a lot of advise on these. honestly 24 BHN is just too hard for a wadcutter and I have no idea why they would even produce them at this hardness. these are usually around 10-12 BHN. #2 - I agree, these will likely be too hard for lower velocity loads. if it were me, I would...

    low powered weapon lights

I agree completely! I want one brightness setting and that's it! don't need a bunch of features, just light.

    low powered weapon lights

that is a good idea using tape. less light if you don't need it, and remove the tape if you need more. I'll give this a try!

    low powered weapon lights

I have been having a thought regarding intensity in weapon mounted lights. The trend for WMLs (on rifles especially) seems to all be 300+ lumens and I am beginning to wonder if that might be a little much for some situations. Little bit of background: I currently have a 350 lumen light mounted...

    Gloryfire Brass Catcher “Review”

I have one of the gloryfire brass catchers and I really like it. mine is not a picitinny mount, but rather a rubber-backed elastic/velcro strap that wraps around the handguard so it can be used on a variety of rifles. easy on and off, catches brass reliably, hasn't caused any jams yet, holds...

    Plain black steel Glock sights

I went with dawson precision chargers on mine. I opted for the fiber optic front, but they are available in all black as well.

Fantastic new shooting range and gun shop

minimum of $20 every time i want to shoot, cant shoot my reloads, and cant keep my own brass? that actually sounds pretty terrible.

dumbest thing i ever saw... the taurus judge.

What distance do you prefer handguns to be tested for accuracy at?

i voted for 10 and 25. i always start my testing at 10 yards since that is where i do the majority of my pistol shooting. once i have a good 10 yard load, i will eventually try it at 25, which honestly, is where my skill level starts to drop off. i can make shots at further distance, but it...

    Need deer rifle advice

when we could hunt whitetail here in Iowa with real rifles, my set up was right around your friend's $1000 limit. for me, it just came down to what i liked. i wanted a nice wood stock, blued steel, 30-06, and a good scope. ended up with a blued/walnut ruger M77 hawkeye in 30-06 with a 1-7x32...

M77/44, Ruger American 300blk or 450bm for deer

for me it would come down to how i was planning to hunt. if i was going to sit in a stand or blind and shoot one or two deer a year i would go for the 77/44. they are lightweight and handy and i really enjoy the 77 series of ruger rifles. if i was planning on driven hunts like we usually do...
