Agreed. I see no reason why a small technical detail that results in a nearly identical trigger pull to a Glock should lead it to be classified differently :-/. Heck, my Mom's G34 has a *nicer* stock trigger pull than my xD9 and it's "double action".

Why the xD is ESP? Because it's technically "single action" since the striker is precocked as opposed to a glock or m&p where the trigger pull actually finishes the cocking, making it "double action". In other words, complete hogwash as Sam1911 said and a continuing irritation to xD lovers...

On a federal level, only smoothbore weapons are shotguns. There's a great deal of debate in CA at the moment about the Taurus Judge because CA state law defines a shotgun differently than federal law which should make the Judge illegal, but they are still being sold here on a daily basis.
