Bored with .223 (.22 cal in general) for varmints/preadator hunting

Being in western Idaho, I would think you'd want to stay away from .22-250 and similar cartridges. I know you already said you wouldn't go for such a cartridge, but I'd just like to reinforce that notion. .22-250 won't zip through brush very well. The .270 WSM that you currently own seems like...

    Model 70 featherweight accuracy

Very nice. I too have a Model 70 featherweight but I haven't been able to use it a very great range yet. I plan to soon, though. I hope I get results like yours.

Where did You Learn Riflemanship ?

My dad first taught me to shoot when I was probably... 5 years old or there about. I started off using a .22 with peep sights but I don't remember the model. At some point between then and when I turned 12, my father also taught me to shoot with .223, .357 and 12 GA. When I turned 12 my father...

    Nicest handgun out of these?

Having only ever fired a hi-power... I chose the USP. 'Cause this was based on looks. I'm a sucker for HK. But I'd choose the hi-power as second place. I love mine.

    Best Lever Action?

I know it wasn't an option you listed... but I'd buy a Henry. As far as I remember, I've never had any experience shooting any of the rifles you listed. I probably have, actually, but I was too young to really appreciate the guns, and don't remember.

    For you 223 bolt guys.......

I would pick a CZ 527. It has a set trigger. I had been considering getting one, for awhile, in 7.62x39. There's one like what I had been looking for (not in .223, sorry) in the classifieds of this board, but I don't got the $$$ right now. Really wish I did.

    Biggest gun contributer

John Browning. He's designed a lot of useful things, as far as guns go, and he's designed something for almost every American gun company that was around at the beginning of the 20th century. No one beats John Browning.

    Carl Gustaf 30-06 ID help(pictures)

After very little reseach and thought, I've concluded that the rifle you have there is a very neat rifle. How much did you spend on it?

Info on a Luger would be appreciated!

Just my 2 cents: I own one but it's in horrible condition. Mine shoots .30 luger, like most of them do. If you have one chambered in 9mm luger, you're sitting on a gold mine (that fits in your hand). I can't tell from the pictures, but if it has an American Eagle stamped on the top of it (like...

SOCOM abandons the MK 16 SCAR?

I disagree. And yes, I've shot one. I loved it's trigger. It was very light,

    Coyote camo?

I'm coyote hunting for sure coming Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday and I need to know what I can do for either a temporary coyote blind or camo suit. I'll be hunting in Oregon, in the forest, out in foliage-filled clear cuts. Now, the way I understand it, coyotes are primarily scent and...

    Military Bolt Action Rifle

Enfields are cheap rifles, but you'll have to sell your car to buy the ammo. I would recommend a mosin nagant for all around cheapo military bolt action rifle.

Coyote Hunting in near Portland, OR

So I'm wanting to go shoot up some dogs. For all intents and purposes, I live in Portland, and obviously I can't shoot dogs right here in the city. So I'd appreciate it much if someone could share a decent coyote spot or two with me. Preferably west or south of Portland. Seems to me I shouldn't...

    Hand Weapon for Untrained Person

Wooden baseball bat will kick the snot out of any burglar. That's the most readily available non-firearm home defense weapon. If I could have any melee type weapon to keep in my bedroom, it would probably be a large, two-handed sword. No kidding. A burglar most likely has a crowbar at best.

Looking for a good 'car gun'

Some SKS's come with a folding stock. Or you may consider the Chinese paratrooper model. Really though I think the best idea for most indoor self-defense situations is a 12 ga. loaded up with 00 buckshot.

    Armoured White Tail?

If you think animals can't hunt back, you've obviously never seen Jurassic Park. Even Robert Muldoon and his SPAS-12 couldn't defeat ancient beasts. Imagine what another 150 million years of refined predatory instinct looks like. That's right. Anything short of 4800 ft-lbs, and this monster...

Looking for a good 'car gun'

Get one of those semiauto streetsweepers. http://world.guns.ru/shotgun/sh09-e.htm As soon as any BG attacks or you see a nice deer standing on the side of the road, you can put on what I like to call a "12 Gauge fiesta." What you gotta do is buy a bunch of that ridiculous exotic ammo. You...
