Walked in to the FFL for a PPT and saw a 442 in the case. Belonged to the FFL - looks near new, pre-lock, been waiting to run across a decent deal on a 642/442 and that was my day.
6 more days until I can pick it up...
Nothing will carry quite like the military due to the slim design and light weight. But as posted above, the benchmade skirmish is rock solid at that size and price. The griptilians are great, but are much wider, which I find less comfortable to IWB carry.
Would you buy a car if you didn't know how to drive?
As said above, get training, and then get some experience. You will be safer and probably happier with your purchase.
Mossberg has a new "Super Bantam" stock with 2 sizes. I've been meaning to buy a shorter stock for a while and was leaning towards the Hogue overmold, but I think I am going to give the SuperBantam a try.
The Wilderness now has a belt in 1.5 inch that has two plastic rings instead of the metal buckle, a larger version of their "frequent flyer". Lighter to wear and doesnt' scream tactical.
Gas rings should have the gaps offset on the bolt, not aligned.
Do the test to see if the lubed bolt slides out of the carrier under the power of gravity. If it does, he needs new gas rings.

Have you tried the Hybrid-S lenses?
I use the Hybrid-S lense when mountain biking, otherwise the bottom edge of the lense rests on my cheekbones and my skin gets quite irritated by the rubbing and sweat. I just picked up a larger lense though to maintain better coverage when at the range.
I keep an Otis cleaning kit in my buttstock. I use one of those rubber plugs on the pistol grip and keep a pair of earplugs, allen key that fits the carrier key bolts & doubles as a pin punch if necessary, along with my CA AssWeap registration letter. A wrap of electrical tape keeps the rubber...
Long guns are not included in the one a month rule. Also, CADOJ doesn't require each long gun to have a separate dros. So if you buy more than one at once most FFLs only make you pay DROS once.
