Okay, I've got an old, low-end side by side that I'm looking to "modernize" a bit. I can do most of the work myself, but I'm going to need to have the barrels threaded for choke tubes.
I live in the Triad area of NC, so I'm looking for a gunsmith who is preferably not too terribly far away...
I'm thinking about getting my sister a .22 for her birthday. I have a Savage 94 in .22 WMR and she loves to shoot it; however, I want to get her a regular .22LR. The thing is, there are so many options, it's hard to narrow a search down to what I want (so I figured you guys could do it for me...
I'm trying to decide on a new rifle, I'm currently in school to go into law enforcement, and whatever I wind up buying will end up being a career gun; I'm in it for the long haul.
Before anyone answers, let me make a few things clear: I know all about the actions, how the guns are assembled...
Sig P226! It was the only other gun to pass the military stress tests when they selected the Beretta M9. http://www.sigsauer.com/Products/ShowCatalogProduct.aspx?categoryid=7
If money isn't an issue, I recommend the Blackwater Tactical model, it comes with:
- tritium night sights
- custom...
I'm with Geno, Glock or XD are probably your best bets being polymer guns; however, I recommend the XD (and the same reason I prefer the XD) for a Sig owner because the two feel more similar than do the Sig and Glock.
If I couldn't have a Sig or XD, though, Glock would be my next choice.
Go for a Springfield XD, my second favorite brand under Sigs. It has the polymer durability of a Glock but without the awkward grip angle. Sits in your hand more like a Sig too. It also comes in 9mm, .40 S&W, and .45 ACP, so take your pick in caliber.
Gallery of Guns currently lists the XD...
I just got a Springfield XDM in 9mm as my first handgun (typically I'm a Sig guy, but I'm too poor for a Sig at the moment, so I went for the next best thing). Now, I'm just going to run no-frills Winchester target rounds at the range for practice, but for home defense I'm a little inexperienced...
I know one thing, open carry sure makes having full size handguns a lot more practical. There are instances where I'd rather carry a bigger gun with more rounds than have something more easily concealable, like when I go into a bad part of town. The way I see it, if there's more likelihood that...
@ Mainsail
Great read! Thanks for the info.
@ NavyLT
To me, a discussion forum is for just that, I'm getting my yes/no answers from the poll just fine, I want to read people's ideas in their posts. It's sort of silly for them to simply restate their poll vote.
In all the forums I participate...
Here's what I got:
Smith & Wesson Victory Model 10 .38 special
Smith & Wesson Extreme Ops CK70 folding knife
butane pipe lighter
cell phone
(I have no particular affinity for S&W, the gun is an heirloom from my grandfather who passed away last spring and the knife you can get for $10 at...
You know, the reason multiple threads crop up is because new people join the forum who haven't been in the other discussions...
If you're tired of it, you could just not read the thread. Just saying.
Thanks
I've got this Smith & Wesson Victory Model 10 with a leather holster that I got from my grandfather before he passed away, it's a little beat up but works like a clock, I absolutely love it, and I'm proud to carry it when I do.
I love me a good AK!
I totally dig the olive furniture, though then again, I think most colors look good on the AK. The wood (if stained well) looks classy, the black has that menacing "evil" look, and the green just looks nifty!
Here's my AK:
I don't currently have my digital...
Welcome to THR! Glad to see a new face!
I have a deep respect for the 30-06, and if you love it, keep loving it! However, I personally prefer to shoot the .308, they're more convenient to store and carry and feel better when fired (to me).
