    SA XDs 45

I think it's a real winner. The whole XD line has been a winner for Springfield. If I didn't already have a G36 and Colt Defender - I'd find a way to buy one. 2nd gen possibly...

Looking for my first IWB concealable handgun.

Absolutely, positively -- Kahr PM9. Need something for pocket carry -- Kel-Tec P3AT. Both need a good break-in period, but great after that. I've tried them all - really - and liked most of them, but for carry, it's the 2 above ^^^

    Keltec PF9 Trigger Job

rc is exactly right. There is a fix some have tried and it's explained on the Kel-Tec forum. I tried it on a P11 a few years back and it caused light strikes and unreliable performance. Travel is dictated by the sear cam and the weight by the spring travel. Only real solution is to get used...

    .45 ACP decision...

G36 great for carry and range. That XD - XDs looks mighty interesting. Have an XD full size 45 and love it.

    Need help with Glock 36

I've got one. Has never missed a beat in 3+ years with any ammo. I'd go over to GlockTalk. They have a whole section dedicated to the G36. Might get some 1st hand pointers over there.

Has .380 ACP been relegated to "pocket pistols"?

Taurus makes a MilPro 380. 12 rounds I think. Had a Milpro 9, good shooter and liked it. You might find some 380 under $10 now, but it would be Russian and steel casings. Usually fine with a bigger gun...... my P3AT handles it well.

    KelTec P11 or PF-9

I guess that's another check mark on the PF9 side.

    KelTec P11 or PF-9

In defense of the P11 - any series 70 1911 will do the same thing if dropped in a similar fashion. Nothing to stop inertia from moving the firing pin into the primer.

    How reliable are 3" 1911s?

    ^ ^ ^ Key word in above post - "students". I wouldn't classify a 3" 1911 as a good starter gun, know what I mean?

    LC9?

Agree with this 1000%. Love them or not, a safety is just another point of potential failure when you least need any failures...

    How reliable are 3" 1911s?

Mine is too. Never misses a beat with any ammo. Also have a lesser-expensive FX Titan that shoots great as well. But it's a tank.

    KelTec P11 or PF-9

Owned both of them. Liked the PF9 better (trigger). P11 more reliable, but PF9 eventually got there - but is susceptible to limp-wrist jams if not careful. KT is a good US company.

    Favorite 380 ammo

Agree with this point and Dale's other comments, but my little guys don't like flat-nose stuff worth a damn, especially the Kahr. KT handles them best. Agree on Aquila. Always feeds and fires in my 380s. Cheap, too. Fiocchi has always done fine with me. A factory in my home state, so I try to...

One handed practice? glock trigger squeeze, grip suggestions

I'm with you, Camel. I practice so much 1-handed, that a 2-handed feels clumsy, awkward and uncomfortable. There is no doubt in my mind, if all hell breaks loose, I'll be hanging on to something (car fender, pillar, door jam, ground, etc.). Besides, 1-handed allows me to get 90 deg to my target...

Gun break in? (Racking vs Firing)

OK, we disagree. When another point falls within the boundaries of physics, I might be in. But I'm still on the other side. 2 metal surfaces that rub together produce friction, heat and wear - whether under load or not, lubricated or not, 100mph or 1. Period. The only proof I have is the...

Gun break in? (Racking vs Firing)

So lacking a cogent counterpoint, a personal slam works just as well, I guess.

Gun break in? (Racking vs Firing)

Not enough logical sense made to change my mind. But typical - beat somebody over the head until they see your way of thinking. Everything is an absolute - such as - all Taurus guns suck, 380s won't stop a squirrel, Kel-Tecs are POS guns, hand racking is a total waste of time. Surprised the...

Gun break in? (Racking vs Firing)

If hand racking is so different from actual firing - why did you even bother? Busy work?

    New Beretta 92 jamming-help!!

I agree very much with above. New gun = strong springs + tight fit + possible short cycle with weak loads. It'll loosen up. I've got a beat up 20 year old 92FS cop trade-in and it never chokes on anything, EVER...

Gun break in? (Racking vs Firing)

I disagree. I think hand racking the slide is very beneficial for breaking in the mating parts. You can hand crank that dude 100 times in a minute - and when you smell the lubricant, you know you've created enough friction and heat and am doing some good. A good diet of both is the best...
