Guns like Glocks,...129 years in the future.

I'd love to take a trip into the future, after all of Glock's patents are long gone and everyone from A to Z is making them, and all of them changing some small thing to a different material or way of manufacturing, or changing the dimensions ever so slightly. Probably be a lot like a 1911 is...

Suggestions to Start Loading .45 ACP

Been shooting 200 gr LSWCs for decades using Bulls-eye powder. Yeah, I know, it burns a bit dirty but it gives me my best groups for my Government Model, Officer Model and my Gold Cup National Match. For the last year I have been loading Acme coated LSWCs and they seem to run about as good, with...

    870 20 gauge

Bought the better half a youth model 20 gauge 870. Handy little shotgun. Fairly light, and even with the shortened stock it works well for me and I am a 6 footer while she is just above 5 feet tall.

Cheap bolt-action rifle for the 7.62X39?

Sort of reminds me of the old Savage/Stevens bolt action rifles in 30-30 Winchester. Accurate, not much to look at, but they never did sell very well. Shame, that.

New Marijuana Laws and gun purchases.

In the end, Federal authority is superior to state authority. Pot is illegal federally, so I wait for the Feds to try and convict a user in Federal court in a state where pot is by state statute legal. Probably what its going to take in order to settle the issue once and for all.

    coming back

Amazon is also a good place to check for scales. I picked up a brand new RCBS 10-10 scale last year for less than $75

How carefully do you review pistols before buying?

Any firearm maker is capable of turning out a dud which gets past their customer service. Reviews are nice to read but know they are only talking about one particular firearm and generally speaking they do not have multiples of it to do a fair comparison. Also know the old addage: A customer...

    Big bore revolvers

I recently bought a Ruger Bisley Blackhawk in 45 Colt, and its a lot of fun whether you load to max power or standard pressure plinkers. For me, the Bisley grip is much more comfortable to shoot the heavies than the standard Blackhawk grip. Picked it up on line brand new for $650 and couldn't be...

Questions about the Foster Bushing Bump Neck Sizer Die?

I use the Forster neck/shoulder bump die along with the Forster Benchrest seating die. Both work well for me, and the Forster seating die is the same design as the Redding, but costs less.

How much trust do you place on a beam scale?

Do yourself a favor and get some check weights. Its worth your face and your pistol. I use check weights on both beam and electronic scales.

Roles of Springs in Recoil and Feeding of the 1911 Government

Another term for this is momentum.

Would you support the No Fly No Buy List if they added Due Process?

The 5th Amendment doesnt seem to mean much to these people, except when they are trying to weasel out of answering a direct question. As a test case, I think every congressman who votes for this absurd bill should be charged with dereliction of duty-failing to uphold the oath they swore to, and...

Benefits of a bolt gun vs AR15?

Knowing what the OP is after is certainly germane to what we are talking about. As to a shut off gas action, one is still depending upon spring power to chamber the round, correct? If fresh springs are periodically installed, I suppose that would make it a non issue. And shutting off the gas...

Benefits of a bolt gun vs AR15?

For dollar to dollar spent, a bolt rifle should be more accurate than an autoloader. Bolt guns have fewer moving parts and don't depend on gasses to cycle. Look at some of the prices on semi automatic rifles that are supposedly "target" grade. Nothing at all wrong with accurate semi automatic...

    hot heavy barrel?

When I am shooting my heavy barrel 308 or 30/06, I fire 1 shot every 2 minutes for 5 rounds, then let it cool down with an open bolt for 15 minutes. I don't want the barrel to get too hot to the touch, and while I might be conservative in my practice, it has served me quite well. Just take 3...

    RIA 1911 Nightmare!

There are two ways you can test your extractor tension. One is to chamber a round and drop your magazine. Fire the chambered round. If it ejects out of the ejection port, your tension is probably okay. The other is to remove your slide from the frame, and then try sliding a loaded cartridge into...

    Ruger Bisley

Thanks Gents. I wasn't certain as to whether this was a common problem or not. My research did not really find anything, so I will likely call Ruger and see what they have to say about it. In the meantime, I am going out today to try some heavier loads to see exactly what it does.

    Ruger Bisley

Just bought a Ruger Bisley in 45Colt, 7.5 inch barrel blued. I like the way the grip fits my hand vs the Vaquero grip which is a bit short for me. And I like the heavier Blackhawk frame too which allows for some pretty stout loads should I want to up the power. Took it out and tried my hand at...

    Recommend a .380acp

Ya had me till the "pocketable" part. The most fun I ever had loading and shooting a 380 has been with a Beretta 84, but that 13 round magazine means you best have cargo pockets!
