I have a Hamilton Bowen 45 Long Colt that I carry when I am in bear country here in Alaska. But if I don't feel like packing that much weight I carry my Ruger Sp=101 3 in with 180 and 200 grain Cor-Bon and feel well protected.
I like carrying my Ruger 3 inch SP-101, or S&W 3 inch 65 or 4 inch 19. I will be spending the winter in AZ and will probably carry the Ruger. In Alaska I like to pack my Bowen Bisley in 45 Long Colt. I feel comfortable carrying any of these four handguns in the outdoors.
Voted for 642. But I carry the all steel 640 when it came in 38 spc only. I like the extra weight and have had it for over 20 years. Still my favorite carry piece.
Glock 19 3rd gen
Glock 26 3rd gen
These two because ammo is cheap and I can practice alot.
Last but not least Seecamp 32 acp. The only gun I want to carry all day long.
I shoot 180 and 200 gr Cor-Bon in mine with no problem. As most have already said your hand will give out before the gun does. The best 357 mag out there IMHO.
I have a Bowen Bisley in 45 Colt. I went to the shop to order my gun years ago and Hamilton personally showed me around the shop. He is hands down in a class by himself.
I have a older 640 (38 spc) and its a pure pleasure to shoot. If I plan on shooting 357 mag then I grab my model 19,65, or sp-101. For me the steel J frames are a pleasure to shoot and carry and I really don't see the need for anything lighter.
I have the BW but have light strikes as well. Its good to here I can send it back and get a stouter spring to cure this. I care mine alot but recently ordered the Seecamp in 32 so this will be my new bug.
