Which gun is better? The Marlin 795 or the 60?

I bought my dad an older "squirrel stock" Marlin Model 60 with a 4x scope, and it's great. I have a ten year old Model 60SS (stainless finish, laminate stock) which is very nice and quite accurate. It's a little heavier. I used to have a 795. Compared to the two 60s, it was lighter and felt...

What is everyone's favorite budget AR triggers

At the <$100 price point, I have ALG QMS triggers in some of my ARs https://algdefense.com/quality-mil-spec-trigger-qms.html Two of them fit in your price point :p They are single-stage, better-than-mil-spec mil-spec triggers.

If you had to add another chambering to the stable

If I HAD to? I typically try NOT to - been working on caliber consolidation too long! But if so, these would be possible... 7.5x55 - Swiss K31 (shot one before; neat rifle) 45LC - SAA of some flavor (currently have Ruger Blackhawk with 38/357 and 9mm cylinders)

    Question about new S&W M&P 2.0

You must have bought the compact model. If you did, then yes: the "rings" are to slip on the bottom of a 17-round full-size mag so that you can use it in the 15-round compact model.

Guns That You Wished You'd Bought Sooner

All of 'em. Because I wish I had started shooting sooner.

If you could spend an entire day at the range with 6 firearms?

Ha! Range time itself is in such short supply for me, between work and elder care, that I have NEVER been able OR willing to spend any of it cleaning. My range times are too short to shoot six different firearms, unless I just picked them up, used pre-loaded mags, and fired relatively fast...

What would you tell yourself back then?

I would have told myself to GET STARTED SOONER. Because I didn't until later in life.

Is it impossible to make it as a gunsmith?

OP, you have gotten lots of good advice here. Perhaps I can add to that. Background: Electrical engineer with BS, MS, PhD. I grew up on a dairy farm. I'm 51 now. Besides EE courses, I took many not-required classes in ceramic engineering, physics (optics, astronomy), and geology. I had...

    Portland OR vs Boulder CO

I've visited Oregon, but I went to grad school in Boulder. I do miss it. Concerning firearms, they seem generally, approximately equal. Regarding liberal content of the population...ditto :D I think this mostly comes down to weather and scenery, and geographical distances to other parts of...

    My very surprising day.

Congratulations! That's super impressive. Extremely rare these days to be at a company for so long. Many people will not even have that opportunity due to closings, layoffs, etc.

Garand Owners: What should accessories should a new owner get?

That gas cylinder wrench is fine. I have that one and it fits. Be aware that some (I had a blue one from Fulton) do not fit ALL gas cylinders; my blue one fit my WWII Springfield service grade, but did NOT fit my HRA service grade special). I learned at an M1 Clinic (which is a GREAT thing...

Biggest surprise you experienced with guns

Two of the "myths" (perhaps "exaggerations" is a better word) I was glad to see dispelled... 1. The 45ACP in a 1911 didn't knock me on my butt and break every bone in my hand. 2. The 7.62x54R in a Mosin-Nagant didn't knock me on my butt and break every bone in my shoulder. I enjoy shooting both!

I shoot a lot of centerfire and rimfire rifle and pistol, and some shotgun, in regular smokeless cartridges. But I recently came into some black powder firearms, and I need help... The WORST gun in your personal collection?

The "worst guns" in my collection are ones I inherited from my grandfather, and thus am unable to get rid of for sentimental reasons, and no direct descendants to pass them on to beyond my niece, who doesn't care. Mainly shotguns. One is a single-shot 410 H&R; it was given to him when he was...
