A friend is considering starting to reload.
He wants to do it inside his house in FL where it will always be airconditioned. I wonder about static electricity in the dry environment.
Perhaps I am over thinking this because even inside static sparks are rare but it is hard to be too safe...
A friend says he will use his 12 Ga to blast a hole in the side of his fiberglass cabin cruiser in the event that a fire makes getting out the usual way impossible.
Are there any studies on shotgun penetration of fiberglass?
I inherited a small nickel plated revolver. It is a hammer model, 5 shot with no flutes in the cylinder, rubber grips. Ejection is by removing the cylinder.
The top rail is stamped :
US Revolver co.
made in U.S.A
There is a 4 digit SN, 49XX, stamed on the bottom of the blued trigger...
I shot a lot of cheap wadcutter reloads from my S&W K38 and they left lead residue on the cylinder face. Any suggestions how to remove the lead without ruining the bluing??
During her Solicitor General nomination proceedings, Ms. Kagan provided answers to Senator Chuck Grassley regarding her view of District of Columbia v. Heller, 128 S.Ct. 2783 (2008):
"The Supreme Court held in District of Columbia v. Heller, 128 S.Ct. 2783 (2008), that the Second Amendment...
There seems a lot of interest in the 45-70 but I don’t see any mention of the 45-90 which I believe was produced in the same era and weapons as the 70. Why don’t folks like the 90 today??
I got to wondering where the air come from in ammo. Many cartridges are loaded compressed so the only air is in the small spaces between the powder grains. It seem to me that the air spaces are much smaller volume than power but more air than fuel is usually required for something to burn. So...
At the range today one gun, a .40 cal had noticeably noisy cycling. I could hear the action clanking at each shot. I don’t remember ever hearing a gun cycle like that over the sound of the round. Anyone ever noticed that with any gun??
Help me understand all this striker stuff. Is the striker what I always called the firing pin??
I see a lot of references to striker fired vs. hammer fired but don’t understand why it is important. Searching didn’t produce much specific information on the differences, or why one is preferred...
I am ready to part with my Winchester Mod 94 30 WCF (30-30) S/N 1454xxx mfg between 1943-1948 with flat sided barrel band.
Looking for estimates of its value. Condition is pretty good, including the often lost front sight hood, with blue all over but some usual signs of use. Tight action...
I’m looking at an old 22 blot rifle I have and considering as a project, and wondering what are the primary factors that affect accuracy of 22s. Barrel length, chamber design or other factors.
How do folks test 22 rifles for accuracy independent of the shooter?
I’ve been think of trying to secure the rifle in some sort of fixture and rigging a camera shutter trigger to remove all operator errors and see what the rifle can really do on its own. Before I reinvent the wheel what do...
I have an old bolt action 22 with a 24” barrel. That has always seemed a long barrel for a 22. Does anyone have any info on what barrel length the 22 begins to slow down due to length??
Is there any length vs. accuracy information?
I inherited an old S&W fourth model DA 32 S&W short, made in about the 1880s. I plan to sell it but since it came with a box of ammo I would like to shoot it to see how these old guns felt. It’s top latch is tight, cylinder timing is fine and the mechanism works well but the bore and cylinders...
I have a S& W K22 target masterpiece with an additional 22 mag cylinder. The gun has a lot of bluing wear but otherwise solid the 22 Mag cylinder is like new.
I am simplifying my collection and wonder if the 22w mag cylinder has any value alone or does the gun and cylinder have more value...
The FedEX clerks immediate response when, as the law requires, I told her the package contained a gun was to say we don’t ship guns.
Yes you do I replied then I shut up while she considered her next response. At that point she acquiesced and started the process. Strangely I didn’t have to...
