    Coast to Coast pump shotgun

    If it's a 550, it's a Mossberg. $95 you say? I payed $125 or so...in 1984 and still use it . Sounds like a steal.

CCI CB Shorts from a revolver

Beware! Some of the .22 CBs I've used for trapline dispatch were not very effective, though they did the job on rabbits at 10 yards. YMMV

What does .22LR cost in YOUR area?

I think the prices that have been posted here are the new normal. Those are pretty much the same we're paying here.

S&W 3000 Pump Action Police Shotgun.

Anyone who owns a 916 that works is lucky. Mine was crap. After three trips to a smith in two years it was replaced with a Mossberg 500 that's given 32 years of trouble free service. The M3000 is a fine shotgun. Too bad parts are hard to come by but they seldom break down.

S&W 3000 Pump Action Police Shotgun.

The M3000s I have experience with were very reliable. Don't get me going on the 916..ptui!

    1911 mags that work.

The only mags I've had problems with were Pachmayr. I have a Triple K that works like a champ.

Very, very early Remington Nylon 66

I remember when every kid wanted a Nylon 66. I wanted one but grew up using borrowed or hand me down .22s, usually single shots. Finally I decided to buy my own .22 but the 66 had been discontinued so a 10/22 got the nod. Now I see them going for $350-$400 and nostalgia is fine but I'll...

    Won a GSR

H&Hhunter; Interesting observations. Thanks. I'm interested in the GSR for the sighting system and size. No resorting to a custom smith with that one. I have looked into the Steyr but the sights are only a backup. I hear it's very accurate.

    Came upon a Swedish Mauser

I don't know about the price but carbines aren't as common as 38s or 96s. Prices on Swedes are going up as surplus ones are snapped up. As for ammo it's fairly easy to find. Remington, Winchester, Federal, Lapua, and Norma are around. I handload for mine with dimensionally correct Norma but...

    Won a GSR

I've been handling a few GSRs of late and this is the utility rifle I think I've been looking for. Short, light, handy, good sight system, and common chambering are the very thing for me. The muzzle break needs to go. Yes it doesn't conform to Cooper's specs completely, but then he favored...

    7mm-08

I know a family that standardized 7-08 as their deer hunting round. Locally ammo can be hard to find at times so one either reloads or stocks up. It does have a steady following so it should be around for a long time. According to 7-08 fans one advantage it has over the Mauser round is a...

Why the hate for the XD?

No hate here for XDs nor for Glocks. I grew up shooting revolvers and 1911s along with a few HiPowers. Glocks never crossed my mind. Later I did shoot a few. About nine years ago I had a couple bucks and bought a XD 45. It vexed me to no end learning to shoot it but with practice it gave...

    Winchester 1887 clone

I've handled (not fired) a couple originals and they wouldn't be my first choice as a bird gun. They're a clumsy 2x4 that goes bang. But if you wanna play cowboy have fun.

    thoughts on .30 luger?

I've met a couple guys that swear by .30 Lugers for small game hunting and it does work for that. Historically it ain't a manstopper. Ammo can be a pain unless you handload. A buddy had a Luger he inherited laying around and decided to fire it. 9mm wouldn't chamber and he asked me for help...

    Most widely used Knife style?

Probably two or three bladed slip joint folder in past years. But I'd have to say that slip joints are losing ground to lock blade "tacticool" folders. It seems to me that fewer and fewer people carry and use knives save for in the kitchen. Guys at work ask to borrow my knife constantly.

    Wasted morning at a gunshow

Not all dealers at shows are retailers. Some guys are selling "privately". Around here I find good deals on ammo, parts, odds and ends and seldom an guns.
