A cartridge/rifle combo that really surprised / impressed you.

I have been impressed with my Marlin Guide Gun in 45-70. It really fills a nitch and has become my most grabbed rifle. It is extremely accurate. The 45-70 can be loaded light or as hot as you can stand it. Fitted with some AO peep sights, scout rifle mount, & Leopold Scout Scope the Marlin...

    Sell SR9c for Glock 19?

I kind of see the SR9 as a crude copy of the Glock. So sell the Ruger and buy the G19. Now for all you Ruger diehards I am not anti Ruger. In fact I just bought a LCP and a MKiii inthe past 18 months. For this paticular purchase I would choose the G19 but that is my opinion.

M&P Shield vs Walther PPS and G26

Thanks a bunch. Those were the exact 3 pistols I have been wanting to see side by side. The new S&W is looking like a great choice. Priced well to. I like the PPS but its another $100 + $50 for extra mags. Since I have a bunch of Glocks the 26 has been on my list. Right now the Shield is...

    Winchester 9422

IMO that was the best 22 lever action made. They were very well made, shot great, and balanced superbly. It may ruffle feathers with the Marlin & Browning owners but the 9422XTR was top of the line.

Marlin 1897 22 - Guess You Could Say Desirable?!

Wow! I have that exact rifle. I bought it NIB 7-8 years ago. I figured it would go up in value but that is crazy. I would have no problem deciding to let mine go at that price.

    P7 for first gun?

I am with the "get a .22 pistol first" crowd. Too many people screw up by trying to be "cool" with their 9mm, .40, .45, etc. like they see in the movies. Buy a decent .22 pistol like a Ruger MKIII or a Browning Buckmark (for $300'ish) and learn how to shoot. In the mean time you can search...

    Glock Boiling???

If you were "re-hydrating" the plastic why would you need to boil the water? Why not just put it in water? I can see how you can boil plastic to change it's shape (boiled the end of my glock frames to get rid of pigs nose) but that was to soften the plastic enough to bend it, not to re-hydrate.

Who still loves their Sig 230/232 ?

I have a stainless P232 that I got in the mid '90's when I got my CHL. I agree there are way more .380 concealed guns to choose from today that are smaller and lighter. To be honest if I had today's choices in the mid-90's I wouldn't have bought it. All that being said the 232 is way more...

    W.German Sig P228 with Pics

I just pulled my 228 out of the safe I bought new in 95'ish for $450. Its a nice pistol and am proud to own it. Mine has hardly been shot or carried. I bought a Glock 19 soon after and it took over. The Sig is much nicer and has a great trigger. The Glock just carries so nicely and you...

Weatherby rifle--is it really worth $1600?

If you buy Weatherby branded ammo then yes it is expensive. That being said premium ammo of all calibers seems to keep creaping up in price. All my 270WBY mag ammo has been purchased for $15-$17 per box. If you keep an eye out for sales at midwayusa, etc. they will occasionally have some sort...

Weatherby rifle--is it really worth $1600?

Not sure if $1600 is worth it or not. You can get a lot of rifle for $1600. I have a left handed Weatherby Ultralight in 270WBY Mag I bought for around $1100 8-9 years ago. To me it was worth it as it is a good gun. It's hard to find a nice LH rifle. It's also kind of nice to be the only...

What are the secrets to shooting the 1911??

That is strange. I have always found the 1911 the easiest pistol to shoot. I have always figured that is why they are so popular. I wish all my pistols (glocks, sigs, rugers, S&W's, etc.) were as easy to shoot as a 1911.

Want either a Ruger LCP or a Taurus PT738

If you want 2 tone by a can of Dura-Coat and spray the slide yourself. I won't cost much and you couldn't screw up too bad.

    Diamondback Firearms - Improved P3AT?

I came across one of these today at my local dealer and this is an awsome little gun. It's like a mini glock. I held it up next to a kel-tec and they are the same size. I just recieved a holster and magazine I ordered for an LCP I plan to buy at the next gun show in 2 weeks. Now I think I...

    Do SIG-Sauers rust more easily?

Yes they do, or at least my 228 likes to rust. Weird deal. I have over 30 guns in the safe and keep them wiped down but for whatever reason the 228 will start to rust. Never understood why Sig does not do a teffiner type finish. They pride themselves with being combat tough but their guns...

    Ideal backpacking revolver?

Since you are doing multiday hikes I would skip every suggestion above and get a S&W 360PD (357 mag). It is about as light as you can get in a gun that has some power. I carry this during archery elk hunting. When hiking thru the mountains with a pack on your back you don't need all the extra...

Why is the G19 preferred over the G17?

I have had a 19 for years and decided to buy a 17 for a range gun. Right off the batt I shot the 17 so much better. Now I have 2 17's and my 19. The 19 still gets carried all the time. The 19 carries great. I plan to buy another 19 one day just to see if the one I have just doesn't shoot well.
