Wooden bullet? Brass tapered case, what is this? 44 WCF

Back in the 50's, I knew a man that had a Marble Game Getter, he had loaded rounds just like the O.P.'s that he said were shot, he also had some with an extended paper wrapper similar to the old T/C shot rounds that he said were also loaded with shot, but were for the Game Getter only, as they...

Article on how to sight in a scope. Needs review.

Excellent, anything more needed to know will be learned by experience, and not overwhelm or confuse a new shooter. Very nice job!

    .38 SPL & .357 Mag sorting?

All my 357 mag cases are nickel, and my 38 spec.cases are brass. I run them all through the 357 carbide sizer, then sort quickly by brass vs. nickel. I inspect after they are sized, and expanded. This way I don't run 357 cases through the 38 spec. expander. Nickel cases seem to fail with neck...

Question about cylinder sticking with reloaded 38 spl

I am having the same problem with a S&W 686 plus, 7 shot. The cylinder occasionally binds up when the next round (loaded or fired), seems stuck back in the chamber, against the recoil shield. I can push the round forward, and everything returned to normal. this happens randomly with 38 spec. and...

    Colt Diamondback 38 thoughts

I have had several, with 2 1/2" and 4" barrels. All 38 spec. , all very nice. They carry nice, and are accurate. I can afford to only have so many guns, so when I fall in love with the next one, I have to sell/trade something. Wish, I had kept them.

Any personal experience on Dan wesson 715

Thanks, I wondered if it would make a difference. May consider it.

Any personal experience on Dan wesson 715

I have one with a 2 1/2 " and a 6 " barrel. The 2 1/2 is very accurate, as is the 6" but I like the short barrel more as the 6 is quite muzzle heavy. The action is different , but easy to get used to. Like mine.

convert dao 640 pro to sa & da

I had a 640 pro that I was very pleased with, but sold it as I missed the single action option. I have since wondered if I could have had the side plate and frame milled and replaced enough parts to convert it to a standard da/sa action. I liked the size, weight, balance, and moon clip option...

    CZ-527 7.62x39mm?

125 Sierra .311 dia. with Re 7 yield 2405 '/s and about 1" @ 100 yds. Hornady 100 gr..312 xtp pistol bullet with H110 gets 2437'/s and 1 1/2" @ 100 yds. , very close to the same place. It is explosive on varmints! Love the gun!

    Python and Monson-made Dan

I HAD two 6" and one 4" Pythons. They were beautiful ! Smooth action, fine workmanship. I loved to just work the action and listen to the sound of the clicks. Was like music. But, the one 6" factory tuned target gun would not reliably fire double action, even after a trip back to the factory...

Dan Wesson Revolvers question - need info

The one I have 2 1/2" and 6" barrels for my 357. The 2 1/2" is surprisingly accurate, and of course the 6" is also, as would be expected. It is the one I would keep if I had to get rid of the other 8 handguns I own.

Rem 1100 LT 20 barrel bent

To update, after careful examination of the barrel, in the right light, I can see a dent on the barrel about 15" from the chamber. As the barrel was sent USPS, and returned Fedex, it would be hard to discover when it happened. This means the barrel was probably damaged in shipping, and very...

Rem 1100 LT 20 barrel bent

Thanks for your comments. I never thought of the barrel being twisted, but it does look that way. I appreciate your taking the time to answer. Rollie

Rem 1100 LT 20 barrel bent

I have a Rem 1100 LT 20 with a 28" Rem-choke barrel. It shoots to point of aim and patterns well. I bought a 21" vent rib mod barrel, and it was fine also. I decided to have Tru choke tubes installed, and I think it got bent in shipping. When I shoulder it, the front sight is to the left, and...

S&W model 60 vs. Ruger LCR

I just bought a M60-14 and a LCR 3". The last S&W, 637PP, 640 pro, and 315NG have all had accuracy problems. I put over 100 different loads through the 315 without a good group. Yet my 629 Mt. gun will shoot 2 1/2-3" cast bullet groups at 30 yds, so I don't think it is me. I have had NO problems...

    Factory .41 Spl

There wasn't any .40 S&W guns or ammo just a little while ago. A 41 special could be a popular new revolver round for cc, and for many smaller revolvers that are a little too small for the 44 special. The round could provide less recoil with 165 - 180 gr. bullets, vs, 200 - 240 for the 44...

    What would you do?

The 640 pro was the same way! Way, way off. I figured if the bullet came out the barrel it was considered "meets specifications". They claimed they shot it, so they had to know. It had dovetail sights, so one couldn't just change to something else. Otherwise I loved the gun. Had a super action...

    What would you do?

I had a new 640 pro that did the same thing. I sent it back, and S&W shot it, and told me it met specifications and did nothing to fix it. It really soured me on S&W. It was the beginning of poor quality issues. My next S&W was a 637 power port. The barrel was intentionally not rifled in the...

    .44 Magnum recoil vs. .357?

I have a 4" 586 357, and a 4" 629 44 mountain gun. They are 2 different worlds. The 44 stuns the senses the 1st time you fire it. And I haven't found any grips that don't hurt. But, the 586 weighs 46 oz loaded and the 629 weights 44.5 oz loaded! A 6" 629 would be better, and I was able to hunt...
