These are very good rifles. As long as the barrel isn't worn/corroded out, it should be a very accurate shooter.
Only problem I've personally had with mine is that sometimes they have a front sight that is too short and they shoot high, a taller front sight can easily be cut from a piece of...

#14 and #15 would be closest to original condition.
Yep, Ishapores are decent rifles. I have a No1MKIII grenade launching rifle, which is roughly the same rifle as the 2A1 but in .303. It shoots great and is well made.
I've had enough dealings with Century to know that when they aren't making enormous exaggerations with the conditions of used rifles they are selling, they are putting together kit guns of dubious quality. Occasionallythe monkeys get things right and you end up with a flawlessly running and and...
Accurate: no- if you are talking about match grade accuracy, AR barrels last about 5000 rounds before thye crap out, some chrome lined Colt barrels last a few thousand rounds more. I'm not sure about the stresses put on a piston operated bolt, but with DI systems you want to replace the bolt at...
The 30-06 and various mauser cartridges developed around the turn of the century had in mind the biggest menacing living thing on the battlefield- the cavalry horse. The Germans and Soviets got it right during WWII with the development of the 8mm Kurz and 7.62x39, the British later had a 270 or...
When they were importing and selling the M38 turks about 10 years ago, they went for about $39-59 ea, maybe 1 out of 10 had a good bore, most were worn out. The 1903 turks are much better.
K98.
I've had two M48s (actually a M48 and M48A) and both are/were problematic. Poor quality on both. The M48a would give hard extraction, probably due to rough machining on the bolt lug recesses, the chamber was squeaky clean, and I sold it before coming up with the definite cause.
The...
Mosin safeties are very easy to use with the technique Cosmoline describes above.
You aren't going to hurt them dry firing, the only milsurp that I've ever harmed dry firing was a Yugo M48- due to poor machining/heat treat on the bolt/firing pin.
I voted 'other.'
IMHO, Turks and Yugos (M48s) are at the far left end of the bell curve when it comes to quality.
Better: German K98s, VZ-24s, 98/22s, RC K98s, Yugo 24/47s
Best: Swedish M96 M38, BRNO 98/29, 1909 Argentines.
