Anyone else use 2400 in 38?

I have always used a faster powder in 38. 2400 is my 357 mag powder.

    Reloading 357 SIG

Ive use the RMR bullets but the 147 grain is flat based and takes an expander. I really like the everglades 147 grn that are tapered at the bottom and don't have to use an expander. I have two sizers, one a 40 cal carbide and then the steel 357 sig FL. I do not use lube. I use either WSF or...

Want to load .45-70. Need brass. Where to look?

I also have a springfield trapdoor 45-70. I only shoot lead bullets for 1,600 or less fps. Remember this is very soft steel compared to modern day steel. Been a long time reloading for this but I remember my research. Enjoy.

Dry tumbler, Wet tumbler or UltraSonic?

I wet tumble. Just works better for me than dry tumbling. The ultrasonic is for cleaning my pistols, dies and other parts. Just shake brass in beach towel after tumbling and leave out in the garage for a day. No spots and clean and shinny.

Tips and cautions for loading .357 SIG

When I started loading 357 sig, I found lots of good advise on this site. I use the 147 gn HPBT from Hornady, everglades and RMR. The RMR is a flat based bullet and I do expand to the min. the others are boat tailed and fit nicely w/o flaring. I use both WFS and BE-86 for this weight. Around 2k...

    STARLINE brass quality

I use Starline Brass for my 6.8 Rem Spc. Never had any light primer strikes with CCI #41. I would buy directly from Starline again. I have so much Winchester and Military brass for my 30-06 and 300 Win Mag that I will never have to buy any new brass. Have Starline in 357 mag and 38 special and...

    Official 2A Sanctuaries List

I think we are safe here in Alabama but the way the 2A climate is changing, especially in the last 25 years, leads me to believe all may be lost in the next 25 years.

6.8 spc or 300bo for a kids hunting rifle?

Just my preference, 6.8 spc II. I would think the 6.8 round is lighter than the 300 BO and overall weight may be somewhat lighter. I do think both will do the job. This 6.8 performs well in 16" barrels, which saves weight.

    FL Sizing Problem

Was this brass that your friend was going to thrash anyway? Maybe fired many times. Could annealing be part of the solution in this instance?

    Ruger Guide or Remington 7600?

Well, I had a 760 also that my dad passed down to me. Was plenty accurate and held its own in these Alabama woods. Nothing longer than maybe 230-250 yards. I still have it but my sons also use it mostly now.

    Best way to anneal?

Ditto for me also. Annealing is not rocket science but a necessary step for prolonging brass life. I normally get in a rhyme and count to 4, dump case and insert another one. this has worked for years and have gotten as much as 6 or 8 firings from 30-06 and 300 Win mag in bolt guns. My Rem game...

anyone got a MEC marksman press?

I've got a MEC marksman single stage press. Very strong and smooth. I really don't know if it is better than my RCBS Rockchucker. It does not prime on the press but that was not an issue with me. I got the base to mount it on. It is rock solid and heavy. Very well made and finished. You'll...

Rifle brass - Starline vs Hornady

I use Starline when buying. If I had started with Hornady, then I would stay with Hornady. Limit mixing headstamps. Pickup brass for practice and plinking is different. Not trying to limit component changes.

Black spots on brass after tumbling?

I started out reloading 30-06 back in the 70's. All were from fired military brass. Our the years I have encountered many that had some very small amount of "black spots". They never compromised the brass. I remember cutting one open and found that it was only surface discoloration and did not...

RCBS Summit as the only press?

I started with the RC back in the late 60's. Not much choice back then, but knowing what I know now, I think I would probably go with an O frame design for my first press. Get a kit and start there. Just about everything will fit and work in this design without much thought.

    New Powder Hopper

I also purchased several for my Hornady LNL and Redding. Very good quality. The fit and finish exceeded my expectations. The Hornady threaded into my powder measure and fits tightly. The Redding had replacement Hopper screws and fits perfectly.

Lets talk favorite handloads for 6.8 SPC

I would not use standard small rifle primers. With AR systems slam fire is an issue. The CCI #41 are designed to deal with the slam fire issue. On the 68forum, reloaders are also using the CCI #450, small rifle magnum primers. I would research the primer issue before making my final selection. I...
